Galaxy Squad is now available DRM-free. Get it 40% off until October 7th, 1pm UTC.

Galaxy squad is turn-based tactical roguelike, in which you are leading a squad of mercenaries through randomly generated galaxy with different events.

The game combines node-based exploration with random events, similar to games like FTL or Renowned Explorers, with hardcore tactical battles, inspired by XCOM series. All your characters are randomly generated, and you can evolve them however you want, creating ultimate crew.
Looks interesting.

Is this game good?
This really has Mac + Linux? It's Windows-only on Steam. Now there's a switch....

XYCat: Is this game good?
i bought it on steam a few months ago. the "xcom" styled combat felt too flimsy / casual and overall the game was very badly optimised. it may have improved since. it may not have.
it was in early access at the time.

Crew members "shooto" and "healo"...now, that's what I call the good old "nomen est omen". :)

Most people won't notice that you're the same person who left the (so far) only review for this game on Gog, and only see that it got a sharply negative review, and then here in this thread someone also called it a bad game, and get the impression that it gets a unanimously bad opinions, not noticing it's just one person.

It seems a little unfair for one single person to have potentially *that* much influence on persuading people not to buy.

On Steam it is currently rated Very Positive 82% with 151 reviews, which is pretty good.

The negative reviews there seem to be because it's not an ARPG (weird, since it doesn't claim to be) and because it has perma-death, which I personally agree should be a difficulty option.

His post is exactly the same as the review. If people can't tell that a review wasn't going to help them anyway.

Besides, more reviews will get posted.

I hope the game music would really sound the same as the trailer music (nice cyberpunk/deus ex/blade runner vibe there)...

...but Shovel Knight and a few other games already taught me that if the trailer has massively great music, the game itself has tinny retromusic mimicking Commodore 64 or 8-bit Nintendo. Eck...

Commodore? XP

Shovel Knight has exceptionally good music, get out, sir.
Does the game let you save after a successful mission?
Looks interesting.

Might buy it.

It's only $6. Not a lot to lose if I don't end up liking it..
Does anyone know if the game has tactical features for the spaceships in the game? Or is it only on the planet?
Looks interesting. Very positive user reviews on Steam. This is the sort of game that one wants to like.

Wondering how long is the average game? Is it somewhat short for repeated runs like FTL or Bionic Dues or we are aiming to something long, like StarCrawlers or XCOM?

Good question. Also, dialogues or dilemmas in the vein of FTL?
