A question of price. An answer of supremacy.

Galactic Civilizations III: Mercenaries brings the unique qualities of the underworld out into open space, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Money buys privileges and better services here on Earth so it stands to reason that the space market will be no different. In the Galactic Bazaar one can find all sorts of resourceful and talented individuals, eager to join your fleet for the right price. Looking to improve your beam weapons' firepower? Perhaps you want a good navigator to boost your exploration capabilities. Someone to raise morale with his mad partying skillz? Offer the right mercenary the right amount of coin and they'd be more than happy to take care of this for you.

Mercenaries act as hero units, with their own unique abilities, ships, and campaign that bring even more variety and refinement to your playstyle. But you may want to hire the good ones as soon as you spot them, before your opponents snatch them for themselves. Because with the two added factions, the Torians and the Arceans, things are bound to get more chaotic than ever and no one will have time to debate who shot first.

Get down to the Galactic Bazaar and secure yourself the Mercenaries that will tip the scales in your favor, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. And if you need some extra incentive for that space-jump, Galactic Civilizations III is now 25% off until February 22, 3:59 PM GMT.

*This DLC is currently available in English only. German, French and Russian
languages will be added as soon as they are available.

GOG gets it a few hours before Steam. Nice!
Nice DLC for good game!
The release blurb seems to sell this one a bit short: The gamecard says it's a full expansion pack.

I'm tempted to buy it, but $19.99 seems somewhat expensive. Can anyone who's playing it comment on the amount and quality of content? Do the Galactic Bazaar and mercenaries have a significant impact on the game, or is it more of a "neat extra" kind of thing?
Only 3 comments in 10 hours? Is everyone busy playing?

Please tell me if the DLC is worth it when you are done.

If this was a one-off independent expansion with no other considerations, I'd say it would be worth maybe $8-$10.

For me it is more a matter of supporting Stardock in their continual improvement of GalCiv 3. They're not making any money off GalCiv3 aside from the DLC/expansions so I'll continue to support the development even if I wouldn't normally spend $20 on a couple races and the Bazaar, which I don't think is going to matter much at all in larger maps (disclaimer: haven't played it yet, but have played plenty of GalCiv3).

Hope that helps.
Is it just me or there is a problem with most of the Stardock TBS-4x I have played, specifically fallen enchantress and the gal civ series. For some weird reason something just feels off. It didn't really suck me in like Civ, Master of Orion, and Age of Wonders 3. Something just feels a bit off and does it really become fun in the middle to late game? I just don't get the phasing especially with this game.

I get the same sort of feeling, the games are fairly shallow I think they just give off the illusion of something more and it really shows the further in the game you are.

I had high hopes for GC3. and held off on some doubts to see what it would turn into and I am glad that I did- I hate their carrot and stick DLC for a better, well a more appropriate term would be actual fixed game. I'm not convinced of their road map either and that they can turn this mess around. I hope I am proved wrong though and perhaps I'll check things out later on when an ultimate edition is out.

Just to add the price of this is ridiculous for what it is.

Hello overpriced Stardock DLC .
While I appreciate here on GOG the AUD $22.99 price is very attractive (considering Australian Currency conversion) steam is US $19.99. I don't think I can spare the funds for the moment. Will have to wish list. My new years resolution of seeing more live acts at concerts is starting to impact my funds. Each concert I end up buying some CDs or other merch, drinks are always expensive concert ticket prices and I'm doing up to two bands a week.

This week even worse I started buying PS4 games on special from local retail chain (not that I'll get time to play them). Can only hope for more weekend overtime to pay for this all.

So sadly onto the wishlist it goes until the time or money gods intervene
