Eliminating the impossible, embracing the improbable

Four Sherlock Holmes games, chronicling the point'n'click exploits of the brilliant consulting detective, are available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount if purchased individually or 80% as part of the 221b Baker Street bundle.

The somber sound of a deftly played violin spills in from the adjacent room. Sherlock must be in a mood again. The good doctor takes another look at the notebook where he keeps records of his dear friend's most spectacular adventures. Hmm, which one should he write about in an attempt to lift his spirits?

Maybe about The Awakened. This is where they faced a sinister cult worshiping terrible gods and had to unravel a downward spiral of senseless brutality and madness. The recollection still gives Watson shivers.

What about that time when the ultimate puzzle-solver met his Nemesis, as he engaged in a mental duel with the legendary gentleman thief Arsene Lupin?

Perhaps he can write about how they chased the infamous Jack the Ripper through the seedy Whitechapel district, while painstakingly examining those horrible murder scenes.

He is somewhat reluctant to recount The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. A thrilling case to be sure, but also one that revealed his companion's darker side, as he was fighting to clear his name of some truly vile accusations.

This is harder than he thought. See, they are all so chock-full of suspense, brilliant brain teasers, fateful encounters, and picturesque locales. Perhaps it's time to consult the charismatic man in the other room. After all, this is how they managed to tackle all those challenges in the first place: as a team.

Exercise your crime-solving skills in four adventures featuring the legendary Sherlock Holmes, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 60/80% discounts for 221b Baker Street will last for the duration of the Bundleopolis Sale.

justanoldgamer: The second I have money in the bank, those very appealing games appear. You're spying on me GOG, aren't you?

Edit: Did any other Francophone do a double take at seeing the word feculent used in that manner? Same etymology in both language, two very different definitions.
Well spotted! This sure is an intriguing faux-ami. Any idea on what an english equivalent would be?

MBiL_248: You can buy all Secret Files titles without DRM in Germany, I own a collection with all four parts. So it's possible we will see them here in the future as well.

oriberu: Hum. I played through Case of the Serrated Scalpel and Case of the Rose Tattoo (both of them excellent games) - what other Lost Files titles are there?

To GoG: thanks for strolling down the roads to Baker Street. :)
He was referring to the Secret Files series from Deep Silver which have nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes. ;)

Silver Earring is a classic 2D adventure, so yes, you should be able to play at least one.

If you can playing games as The Witcher 3 or similar 3rd person games, you should try Testament, you can even play it with a Gamepad on you couch, if you want.

The music sounds great with an original MT-32 or a proper emulation. ;)

It's one of my most beloved computer games, I would be very, very excited if I could buy it here.

its not the d3d image, cause some 2P games like black mirror use small 3d like characters, its the turning /zooming and the whol movement, imho when i walk the building does not move/scroll along with me, when you walk you simply should make the character smaller, but never move the scene.

thats why i can play most games like chronicles of zerzura , the charcater does not scroll the room , does not make the room turn or so, houses never move, unless you had one to many i guess :D

Okay, I get your point, but the good news is: you can play all of your new games in a nearly static 2D mode with only a few zooms. I hope it will work for you this way. :)
Excellent!" I cried. "Elementary," said he.”
... and we bought the bundle as a DRMfree backup.
Thank you GOG and Frogwares.

thanks for the reply, i was watching this video... its 3P like zerzura...
but holmes seems to be needing to walk a lot so he can search some walls for clues,
check this video, it should start at the nasty walking part

https://youtu.be/HrNv-QHb56g?t=9m58s

that turning is 'turning' my stomach
the player in the video was using the cursor around the scene, the bad thing is that the holmes dude is walking all the way in real time involving all that showing and turning of the room, which is a bit redundant imho...
not only it will waste some time, cause when in old games you spotted something you clicked the cahr. walked and... next screen till you arrived at that part of the bookclosets , but in this case you see him walking around till he gets there, and thats a bit to much unneeded animation.

Mmmm, don't mind if I do... Bought (had the Silver Earring already, but the rest).

gamesfreak64: that turning is 'turning' my stomach
That's an exception and has much to do with the round design of the room, but the most of the time the scene just skips to another angle. If you let Homes walk normally instead of running, the effect should be far weaker. But yes, there are zooms and scrolling, but it's not much in comparison to the former 3D mode which gave me more than a headache.
Like others have said, GoG, please look into obtaining the rights to the Serrated Scalpel. That game is a classic and a masterpiece and I would buy it in an instant. I realize the rights are different than this group, but if there was ever a time to ask, this would be it. Thanks.

so it gave you a headache aswell ? many people have these using certain games, not gazillions but more and more people will notice they sometimes get these (3d movies aswell)

I had never before a problem with motion sickness, but the first three Holmes games in real 3D make me more than a headache - perhaps a problem with the engine? A friend of mine had the same problem playing Awakened. I could enjoy those only in their remastered versions with the new point & click perspective.
