Eliminating the impossible, embracing the improbable

Four Sherlock Holmes games, chronicling the point'n'click exploits of the brilliant consulting detective, are available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount if purchased individually or 80% as part of the 221b Baker Street bundle.

The somber sound of a deftly played violin spills in from the adjacent room. Sherlock must be in a mood again. The good doctor takes another look at the notebook where he keeps records of his dear friend's most spectacular adventures. Hmm, which one should he write about in an attempt to lift his spirits?

Maybe about The Awakened. This is where they faced a sinister cult worshiping terrible gods and had to unravel a downward spiral of senseless brutality and madness. The recollection still gives Watson shivers.

What about that time when the ultimate puzzle-solver met his Nemesis, as he engaged in a mental duel with the legendary gentleman thief Arsene Lupin?

Perhaps he can write about how they chased the infamous Jack the Ripper through the seedy Whitechapel district, while painstakingly examining those horrible murder scenes.

He is somewhat reluctant to recount The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. A thrilling case to be sure, but also one that revealed his companion's darker side, as he was fighting to clear his name of some truly vile accusations.

This is harder than he thought. See, they are all so chock-full of suspense, brilliant brain teasers, fateful encounters, and picturesque locales. Perhaps it's time to consult the charismatic man in the other room. After all, this is how they managed to tackle all those challenges in the first place: as a team.

Exercise your crime-solving skills in four adventures featuring the legendary Sherlock Holmes, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 60/80% discounts for 221b Baker Street will last for the duration of the Bundleopolis Sale.

Stryder2931: Has anyone either played or heard how these games are? They look interesting....
I've played Silver Earring, The Awakened, Jack the Ripper and Nemesis, and I enjoyed them all. They aren't perfect but IMHO any faults are more than outweighed by the areas where the games excel. The characterizations of Sherlock and Watson are generally very good, as are their voice-overs, and the investigations are interesting and challenging.

I think they're all worth playing, but if you asked me to rank them I'd put them in the following order of preference:
- Nemesis
- Jack the Ripper
- The Awakened
- Silver Earring

Just one word of warning concerning Silver Earring. There's a stealth section involving a guard dog which I struggled to successfully complete, even with the use of a walkthrough. I don't know if it was worsened by playing on a relatively slow computer, but it's probably the closest I've come to putting my fist through a screen whilst playing a game!

Flemeth: Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis is just the American title of Sherlock Holmes versus Arsene Lupin , and you can grab it from GOG.com now :)
So when do we get Crimes and Punishments? And hopefully The Devil's Daughter will arrive here in less than 5 years late ;) I am personally not interested in the object hunt/causal ones though.
Cool to see more Sherlock Holmes games showing up here. I own the Secret of the Silver Earring game here already, and I own Testament of Sherlock Holmes game on Steam which just got added here. Unfortunately, you have to buy all of the games you don't own here in order to get the full discount, and I don't think there's a way to cross-redeem the game from Steam to GOG. So it's $9.96 for the whole set of 4 I don't own here, or if I remove the Testament game I own on Steam which is $3.99 in the bundle in order to just get the 3 $1.99 games I don't already own for $6 makes the entire order jump to $12, doubling in price because I don't want to rebuy the game I already own on Steam.

I really wish the bundle pricing scaled in a more sensible manner on these kind of promos instead of "buy everything and get 99% off, but remove one out of 20 games in a bundle and then the discount drops from 99% off to only 10% off". I other words, buy 20 games for $10, or if you only want 19 of the 20 games, then you can get them for the low price of $40 instead of $10. </illustrative exaggeration>

I get the idea of giving the best discounts to encourage buying more, but it does not always work out for people who do want to buy everything they don't already own - if they don't own it all here, and don't want to rebuy things they already own. In this case though it's a completely whimsical take it or leave it purchase, so I'll pass for now and hold out for a future promo where the games are equally discounted but on an individual purchase basis or similar. I'm sure in months to years the new $9.99 games will hit 80-90% off in Insomnia or summer or winter promo, so no big deal, time is on my side.

Nonetheless, great to see these games showing up here and I hope more follow in the future.
I own all the games on Steam and Retail, but I've bought the complete series with pleasure again here on GOG. The only drop of bitterness is the fact, that The Silver Earring misses its German version, while all the other titles are multilingual. JUDAS, where are you? Here is work for you to do! ;)
Guess I should buy these to make it more likely for CrimesAndPunishments to appear on here...
Yay nice release!I love Sherlock Holmes!Be it on paper,be it jeremy brett, downey jr and cumberbatch(but no jonny lee miller)I own most of them already but maybe there's hope now for crimes and punishments to show up in the future so i'll withhold the purchase on steam :D

KainXVIII: No The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes? Bummer.
TRUE old games (with ScummVM support), unlike those one which are already on Steam.
I would love to see the old VGA games here. They were BEAUTIFUL.

jcoa: No Consulting Detective Sherlock games? Those would have been perfect for gog.
Yes, they would, as wel the great Lost Files would do, but that's another developer/publisher story. ;)
They look beautiful for sure and the price is a steal for someone who haven't played any of them. Great releases GOG, congrats! :)

Yeah, it's the best Holmes game from Frogwares so far. I would love to have it without DRM.
well i am happy to see the sherlock holmes fans got some of the point and click games and that they are pleased with these.

i checked the videos: all 3d with lots of rotating ...so i skip on these ones :D

too bad the old point and click adventures in 2d arent here..

Nightlong: Union City Conspiracy

Lost Chronicles of Zerzura
Chronicles of Mystery - The Scorpio Ritual
Chronicles of Mystery: The Tree of Life

The Secret Files
also seems the publishers/devs of the Secret Files cant part aswell with their DRM in these good games, ah well... better luck next time i guess...

(dos)
Touché the adventures of the fifth musketeer... ( have on retail) i got it to work but its quite a hassle to get it to work..

Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths
.........

The good thing is the Kathy Rain and the recently released Shardlight, i preordered the first and own the last (shardlight) so thats a small comfort.

You can change the view to a classical point & click perspective for every title if you wish so. :)

(That's exactly the way I'm playing Awakened, Nemesis and Ripper.)
