It's a smashing job and someone has to do it.

For The King is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, 20% off until May 3, 3pm UTC.
It's a jungle out there, disorder and confusion everywhere. Ever since the king was murdered, none of the kingdom's hexagons are safe to step on. Now acting on the queen's behalf, your team shall try and restore some order through strategic moves, turn-based combat and all sorts of outrageous heroics over procedural maps and events. Fight for your fallen king in single-player, local or online co-op (requires GOG Galaxy).
Forum pop.
...for the land, for the mountains...
Waiting for my backerkit to be updated (What an inefficient way to distribute keys...). Great game, btw.
Is there crossplay with Steam?
Nice to see another game with full Galaxy support.
Looks like a great game. I won't be buying it, though. There's no Linux support, and it's still too expensive for a game that I might end up having to "throw away" or ignore for years because it doesn't work on my machine. As a lesser gripe, both the publisher and gog label it as roguelike when it clearly isn't (at least judging from the screenshots and trailer video). Then again, I may be wrong, but given that that Sundered and Dead Cells are the two most recently added "roguelike" games according to gog, I doubt it.
Someone explain to me how this game has "roguelike elements".

Because usually the description means the game is abysmal, and this one looks really interesting.

And no Linux support, probably as a result of the above (given that there is a Linux version on Steam).

Every time they skip Linux support in favor of Galaxy, I hate Galaxy a little more.

Anyways, I guess I'll just save a couple of dollars on this one.

cute! added to wishylist!
The term "roguelike" becomes more diffuse every day...
This game could be defined as a mixture of JRPG, roguelike and boardgame, with unlockables.

So, this game has:
-Procedurally generated world, dungeons and encounters.
-Random Side Quests and Loot
-Turn-based movement and combat
-RPG mechanics based on the PC's attributes
-Permadeath (sort of, characters can be revived, but a game over can't be reversed...)

This game does not have:
-ASCII graphics
-Unidentified potions and scrolls
-An amulet of Yendor

Wise words, indeed.

Well, this is really nice. On the wishlist it is.

For those Linux users: What did you expect?
Not just Linux users. Steam: Mac version yes. GOG: Mac version no. What I would expect, since the Mac version exists, is that it would be published on GOG. There's no excuse regarding Galaxy in this case, either. Shouldn't GOG discourage publishers from doing this? They're missing out on $$ when I'm forced to buy from Steam for no reason.
"For The King is a challenging blend of Strategy, JRPG Combat, and Roguelike elements. "

The combination of these terms makes me think the developers don't know what any of them mean.
Crossplay supported!
Won't be long before everyone complains about this look the same as they do for pixel art. Personally, Im a long way from getting tired of it. It sure has gotten common though.
