Remembering the ideal life.

Update: Finding Paradise Soundtrack is now available as well. Please, be aware of -20% series discount, applicable if you buy both base game and OST.

Finding Paradise, the sequel to one of the most emotional adventures, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% discount until the end of the Winter Sale.
After sending a dying man To the Moon, our favorite doctor duo is now called upon by a retired aviator that once shared with us A Bird Story. With no clear instructions on what exactly to "fix" this time, they once again venture into the mindscape to hunt mementos, witness heart wrenching and heartwarming events, and -hopefully- help their patient achieve this ever-illusive fulfillment.

BranjoHello: Oh, nice! I didn't even know this was in development!
I just love To The Moon, and A Bird Story was ok. I hope this one is closer to the first.
How could you not? It's been years when it first was announced . But lucky you - so you did not need to wait for it like the rest of us had. :)

This one has the same main characters as "To the Moon" and should be much closer to the first. "A Bird Story" was always announced to be a bit different and not as big.

RPG Maker is probably 99% shovelware. It makes it a lot easier to do very specific, bland things that were already done 1000x over in the 90s.

To The Moon mostly does things that RPG Maker wasn't especially built to do, skipping over combat, stats, and the like completely.* It uses only part of the engine to make a roaming "point and click" sort of game. It sort of bends the definition of "game" to the point where it's more of an interactive storybook, which is completely fine and it is what it is.

idk if RPG Maker has grown in its capabilities since the old days, but I would be pretty skeptical about an RPG Maker game if I were looking for inventive game mechanics. If you're going to innovate the mechanics beyond a certain point, you may as well use Unity or a programming language. It just happens that if all you need to do is make people talk when you press A on them, RPG Maker has that easily covered.

I understand why it would be a turn-off, but TTM more than transcends the platform - ironically, through discarding a large portion of its functionality entirely. It's a lot like writing a fine novel onto an NES cartridge simply because you only need a mechanism to put words on a screen.

* - ok, there was an Easter egg early on, but that's not the point. This was more of a 4th wall joke about the development tool than anything else, in my reading of it.

Crosmando: Pretty good indicator that the devs are complete amateurs if they have no real programming skills.

Kunovski: :D it's like saying a 2D anime TV show is an amateur's work as it's not in 3D :D
Because as everyone knows, 2D animation is really easy!

Fake trailer, good stuff.

Starmaker: The most damning evidence is that no matter how hard I looked, I could never find a critique of To The Moon which would explain what the reviewer liked about the story.
[..]
The only good thing I can say about To The Moon is that the pixellated foliage is fluffy.
I think you have a point here. To the Moon and A Bird Story are two good reasons for me not to buy Finding Paradise. I suspect it to be the same old of something that didn't convince me in the past.
can't wait to play it

Lodium: Why is that?

Uhm, you can actually program in RPG maker so this argument doesnt make any sense. There is a scripting Language. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scripting_language

The earlier Versions used Ruby if i recall correctly and the Newest one uses Java.
