The horror continues.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin + Reborn, an action-horror FPS continuation, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 60% launch discount.

Where the original F.E.A.R. succeeded in offering a terrifying, refined first person game - F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin succeeds even more so. The sequel is more open and varied with less linear environments, new gameplay mechanics like movable cover, and even drivable combat mechs. Still, the basic formula remains unchanged - the slo-mo, refined gunplay, effective AI, and a thick horror atmosphere are back in all their gory. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin + Reborn which can still impress graphically and gameplay-wise, is arguably the best in the series. A high-quality shooter even today.

This pack includes the Reborn expansion pack with four new levels, a twisted story, and a brand new perspective from behind the mask of replica soldier Foxtrot 813.

Prepare for your second encounter assault in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin + Reborn, available DRM-free on GOG.com! The launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, March 24, at 10:59 AM GMT.

Fenixp: *snip
Thanks for those suggestions. Alien: Isolation defiantely looks right up my alley. If GoG can bring it here, awesome! ;)

Outlast also looks like I would enjoy it too so I've added the original game and DLC to the wishlist. :)

I did play the older Resident Evil games (1 and 2) and while I liked then, they weren't quite what I was hoping for. Not sure how different Resident Evil 4 is but I'm just assuming they're similar because they have the same IP.

If you have trouble recalling, no problems, I can always annoy you later :P

wolfsrain: You could skip the expansions. They weren't made by the original devs (Monolith) and they are not considered as part of the story and to be honest they are not on par with the base game. So my recommendations are FEAR1 and 2 and skip Persaeus Mandate and Extraction Point
I think I will be playing through the expansions regardless. Finishing the base game but ignoring the expansions would kinda get under my skin ;). I also don't think there's been a time where I finished a base game but didn't complete the expansion. It would have to be really bad for me to give up on it :P

Ohhhhhh man.

I honestly thought this WB deal was done after that first round of games. I also honestly thought that FEAR 2 which - though different from the original is one of my favorite shooters ever - was going to remain trapped on Steam.

I am fucking elated. This is amazing.
F2 and Reborn are ok. At the time of F2's release it was very disappointing to a lot of original FEAR fans. The official forums were purged of any criticism by massive banning by the admins. Its a decent shooter, just a unworthy follow-up to FEAR.
I wanted to like the first F.E.A.R. but it's one of the most repetitive games I've ever played, in pretty much every single way. As far as the horror, let's just say I found it to be as much of a horror game as Tetris. Well that's not fair to Tetris really, it can be far scarier. I ended up quitting and uninstalling it around the second part of interval seven.

I did try the F.E.A.R. 2 demo on Steam and found it to be much much better in the horror department (even if it used jump scares) and the AI and gunplay was just as good. Understanding that that was just a demo and they were hyping the game as much as possible, how does it actually compare?

Is it actually less repetitive? Does it take less than four levels at a time for them to introduce a new enemy type (who just makes occasional one off special appearances anyway)? Or are you still fighting the same three enemies over and over 99% of the time again? Are you stuck in identical office corridors forever again? Does it repeat levels all the way down to the intro sequence?
Great release.
Most excellent release! Most triumphant discount! Instantly instabought! Thank you WB and GOG!
Wow, almost missed this. Great addition! :D
Bought.
I played the main game on XBOX 360, because of steam requirement on PC. Console protection was just a disc check.

I consider the first game better though.
I already own the F.E.A.R. games on Steam, but would gladly re-buy them here to support GOG :D
BUT I wonder, since GOG also exists in German, are those games still uncut when I buy them from Germany?
Or do I have to wait for my next holidays in a foreign country? XD

In my library there is only a link for the English version in both FEAR games. So there should be only one universal version on GoG.

Licurg: How long will the sale last ?
This

I'd like to see long these discounts last, I'm sure GOG would make more sales, if they showed such info on the Game page. I don't get my next money until the 27th march, I have a few shekels..

The launch discount will last for one week, until Tuesday, March 24, at 10:59 AM GMT.

going blind in me old age.

Great release!! Very excited and I can't hide the fact that I'm constantly thinking about AVP 2 among other games that *must* be released here in all their DRM Free glory someday (sooooooon!)..! :D
