Given the way they've treated GOG's users, it might just be no love for Team17.
I like The Walking Dead. I like The Escapists. The combination of both appeals to me.

I would buy it, but it's regionally priced (with higher price points than the US base price). Not going to buy it because of that.

Doubtful. Worms Armageddon would get some big attention here.

True, but that's not the series that Team17 mistreated us with. Even people who enjoyed The Escapists might have no interest in buying this new game here because Team17 still hasn't released the original game's DLC on GOG. If this game gets DLC or even just free updates, there's no guarantee that we'll ever see them, or that Steam won't get them several months before we do. I guess you could say that just goes back to being no love for The Escapists, but it would be more because of Team17's actions than because of the game itself.

At the end of the day, people will still be interested in Team 17's back catalog (especially Worms Armageddon), in the same way that people will still be interested in Nordic Games' Titan Quest and Red Faction: Guerrilla (despite the fact that they also have one game here that hasn't received a patch for months) and people will also still buy Kalypso games (like Tropico 4, Crookz, Dungeons 2, Grand Ages: Medieval), despite the debacle with Omerta.

Oh, definitely. I wasn't trying to argue against that. I just mean that people might not want to buy The Escapists: The Walking Dead because of how Team17 handled the original game here.

Then, they should probably have renamed it to something else. :P

Well, here's hoping that history won't repeat itself.
The base game is at the US price for me but the deluxe edition upgrade, although only at about a 10th of the price, has a regional surcharge. Makes perfect sense. :P I guess when you use regional pricing you have to be weird.
Would be interesting to know how the deluxe edition is priced, but there isn't one so far.

Are there other games on GOG which have a deluxe or whatever upgrade option but not the corresponding deluxe edition itself?
Team 17, make a Demo, I wanna try the game.
Alright, I'm playing through this one now. For starters, it uses the Unity engine instead of Clickteam's tools. UI elements are now in different resolutions from the rest of the game which is somewhat jarring, but at least it makes the text more legible than in the original Escapists. Controls are somewhat more finicky than Escapists. You need to maneuver closer to (or properly face) desks to interact with them, while left or right clicking near other context sensitive objects like corpses opens their interaction window (which may not be what you intended to do). Similarly, with controlling party members, you might end up going into attack target mode instead of using a tool. Another downside is there doesn't appear to be a level editor. And it might just be the way the game and / or Galaxy stores / sends data, but some Galaxy achievements don't appear to trigger (like collecting the comic books).
But as for the positive aspects, the gameplay is different enough from Escapists, yet still very addictive. Instead of police 'heat' there's a 'threat' meter that increases if you fail to attend to routines. Any increase means there is a chance zombies can spawn within your base and attack your companions, but at least there's no sniping, and companions won't attack or get mad at you. There's tons of new materials to collect and craft, there's new routines, and at least one mission has no routines at all so you are free to explore the level and train stats at your own leisure.
