Do you love TES IV: Oblivion and TES V: Skyrim? Now that’s an obvious question. And how about their standalone, total conversion mods created by SureAI and available to claim for free for every owner of the respective TES titles?

We’re incredibly happy to announce that both Enderal: Forgotten Stories and Nehrim: At Fate's Edge, alongside their soundtracks and another awesome title from SureAI – Mad Restaurant People, are now all available on GOG!

But let’s unpack all of this awesome news one by one!

Enderal: Forgotten Stories and Nehrim: At Fate's Edge are gems both created non-commercially by SureAI studio. These standalone mods are available to claim for free for every owner of respective TES titles on GOG – TES V: Skyrim for Enderal: Forgotten Stories and TES IV: Oblivion for Nehrim: At Fate's Edge (no DLCs are necessary in both cases). But if you’d like to support awesome developers of SureAI, you can do so by purchasing Enderal and Nehrim’s soundtracks or their Mad Restaurant People title, which we will cover in just a second.

Enderal: Forgotten Stories is a total conversion mod for TES V: Skyrim that is set in its own world with its own lore and story. It offers an immersive open world, all for the player to explore, overhauled skill systems and gameplay mechanics and a dark, psychological storyline with believable characters.

Since its release Enderal gathered extremely positive reviews from both players and critics. The game takes place in the world of the titular Enderal, a land beset by conflict and turmoil. The player takes on the role of a protagonist who is plagued by recurring nightmares and visions, and must embark on a journey to uncover the truth behind their mysterious affliction.

It offers deep and immersive storytelling with a rich and complex narrative that explores themes of loss, identity, and redemption. It is full of memorable characters, unexpected twists, and emotional moments. Unique and challenging gameplay with a revamped leveling system, new combat mechanics, and a variety of quests and side missions that offer a high degree of choice and consequence, as well as stunning visuals and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack that help to create a truly atmospheric experience is all that we can expect in this outstanding modification.

In addition, its two amazing soundtracks: Enderal: The Bard Songs and Enderal: The Shards of Order Soundtrack are also available to claim for free on GOG!

Nehrim: At Fate's Edge is the predecessor of Enderal: Forgotten Stories, being a total conversion mod for TES IV: Oblivion, featuring its own unique story, world, characters, and gameplay mechanics. The game takes place in the world of Nehrim, a land on the brink of destruction. The player takes on the role of a protagonist who is thrust into a world of political intrigue, ancient prophecies, and supernatural threats, and must navigate through a complex web of alliances and betrayals to uncover the truth behind their own destiny.

It provides a complex and well-written narrative that explores themes of power, religion, and morality, and just as Enderal, it is filled with memorable characters, plot twists, moral dilemmas and challenging gameplay. Gorgeous audiovisuals, unique leveling system, new combat mechanics, and a variety of quests all add up to an incredible gaming experience.

As mentioned before, you can support SureAI’s developers by purchasing Enderal: Forgotten Stories Soundtrack and Nehrim: At Fate's Edge Soundtrack. They are both now available on GOG and discounted -20% until March 13th, 2 PM UTC. And if you’d like to grab both of them together, you can do so with The Music of Vyn (with -25% discount until March 13th, 2 PM UTC).

maxpoweruser: It's too bad "Nehrim: At Fate's Edge Soundtrack" is MP3 only. Lossless would have been nice.

Edit: thanks for the freebies.
The composers do not have the lossless masters from Nehrim or Arktwend anymore. Its just something that got lost in time and all that exists are the MP3 game files, which range from CBR 112kbps to CBR 320kbps. Many of the tracks also have mixing errors, clicks and were badly clipped. What I also noticed is, that while the official soundtrack includes some unused b-sides, there are still some tracks missing, also from Arktwend times. They re-used some of the tracks in Nehrim and many of the pieces were composed around the same time.

I actually remastered all of the music some time ago with RX9 and tried to fix or improve most of the problems and also brought some of the higher spectrums back with some VSTs and such. Thats probably the best that can be done without existing lossless masters. Was definitely one of the more encompassing restoration projects of mine.

All my projects are on YouTube and also some other websites if you Google.

Here is Nehrim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmjVpw4FuyY
Here is Enderal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMa1bfgezrU

Both of these soundtracks also exist with full German tags on my channel since many of the tracks had originally German titles and the developers are German anyway.

Nehrim German: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3TQXJwWBAc
Enderal German: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoxmkKs4_F0

That being said, it would still be cool if you support the developers by buying the soundtrack. :)
They truly deserve it since their RPGs and lore in general is outstanding and its insane that this work is all for free. Nicolas Lietzau has also written a book named Dreams Of The Dying if you wanna dive deeper into the universe.

If you already have Steam Enderal with mods you can just redirect MO2's instance to Enderal Special Edition GOG. Just edit the .ini file via the instance manager and make sure every path is correct, then edit the path to launcher and SKSE.

And you're done.

EDIT: Seems the GOG version has a problem with lens flare as all light sources are constantly flickering when moving. The Steam version didn't. Deselecting it in the launcher seem to have fixed it.

Great releases but is there a mod section in the store ? If I don't know the existence of Nehrim or Enderal, none of them is named as DLC on Oblivion or Skyrim game cards !
Did come very unexpected, but a very nice surprise nevertheless. Thanks a lot.

None mod section I'm aware of. But these mods are better made than a huge amount of genuine standalone games, as total conversions they are practically games on their own. And as a result, I don't care, because these simply deserve it.

But some sort of integration of them into the Skyrim and Oblivion store pages would definitely be mutually beneficial.

I really like getting GOG versions of mods like this (and previously, The Chronicles of Myrtana - Archolos as well as Daggerfall Unity).

I don't really like the direction the overall modding scene has gone in over the years. So much content is locked to Scheme or is designed for the user to need some client (like Nexus).

Therefore it is a nice treat for GOG users to get no-nonsense plug-and-play type of releases like this. It is convenient to have an offline installer, without sacrificing further user freedom.

Kasper...: I was literally looking into those yesterday, and was planning on installing Nehrim myself (after YEARS without touching it) and noticed that Enderal wasn't available outside of Steam now.

I wishlisted those 2, and today they release.

Well, what a nice timing!

PS: I'm surprised Bethesda/Microsoft didn't make those require the base games.

park_84: Well, you need them to complete the purchase, like any other DLC that requires the base game.
They are also standalone. While you have to have the base game to acquire them, you don't have to have the base game installed to install and play them.
I have Oblivion and Skyrim from here, both working fine. No mods.

If I download and install these, do they get their own game Icon as completely seperate games, or do I start Skyrim / Oblivion and run them from there by choosing from a start menu?

I see Sanscript and Paladin have mentioned this but still feel the need to ask. Probably my OCD which I've had now for 7 years, 9 months, two weeks, four days, six hours, 19 minutes and 32 seconds...now.
Any chance that achievements for Nehrim will be implemented at some point?

Some time ago you linked to some mods you thought should be added to the store. Do you remember what those were?

I'm pretty sure one of them was Gothic Reloaded Mod, but that doesn't appear to be completed yet (though I do hope it shows up when done): https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/gothic_reloaded_mod

I'd be curious to know the most-voted mods on the Community Wishlist. When searching "mod", Gothic Reloaded and The Dark Mod 2.0 seem to be the highest. (but maybe some mod entries don't have "mod" in the title)

Nehrim is listed as a seperate game entry.
Both as a installation directory, in Galaxy, and has it's own desktop icon.

Liels Paldies, Atlo. By that logic Enderal will be the same. Thank you for the reply.

SureAI's history of doing ElderScrolls games TC didn't start with Nehrim. Before, they also made two TCs for Morrowind, Arktwend and Myar Aranath. All set in the same world of Vyn as Nehrim and Enderal, but in other places. Though those are earlier works, on an earlier engine, so they are less ambitious and polished in some ways - no thorough game mechanic changes, for example, you'll still have Morrowind's gameplay while Nehrim and Enderal did change skills and character progression completely from their base games.

And neither of these Morrowind-based TCs got a standalone release.

Apologies for the late reply, the ones you were thinking of probably are:

Legend of Ahssun (Website)
and
Dzieje Khorinis (History of Khorinis) (Website)

There's another quite intriguing total conversion for Gothic/standalone title in zEngine being worked on called Phoenix (Phoenix Tales) - A Gothic Alpha Reboot (Website) but I don't know how far along that is. The devs are relatively active on their Discord, last I heard.
