Behind every great empire, there is one great strategist.

Empires: Dawn of the Modern World, a captivating RTS where you dominate your opponent's nation by prospering through five historical periods, is now available DRM-free, exclusively on GOG.com.

From the Middle Ages to World War II, the challenges and tribulations that await your civilization will be plenty. Resource gathering, smart allocation of your workforce, and effective deployment of your forces are imperative to thrive in this follow-up to Empire Earth which emphasizes the diverse playstyle of each playable nation.

NOTE: The game does not currently support multiplayer but we are working on resolving the issue.
This is awesome. Really!
Never got excited that much about a game on GOG.
This game has flaws, quite a lot indeed (like most game from SSS) but I consider this greatest 3D RTS (AoE2 is greatest 2D RTS to me),
If SSS have more money to marketing it, things would be better, oh my poor SSS.
Any way, really glad that it was here on GOG, price is somewhat higher than it should, IMO.

P/S: I believe this game actually a part of Empire Earth series, kind of spin-off.

Grargar: Stainless Steel Studios is the publisher? Really? But they shut down 12 years ago.
This! The implications did not strike me until after I had read it. This is not legally possible unless someone has taken over the name or the company is still living on in someone's drawer.
Anybody knows that is this Throwback Week title on the mainpage about?
Does the game have a windowed-mode? Does it use DirectX, Glide, or OpenGL?
I've been trying to get my old disc copy of this game working again (no success with windows 7), and this shows up. Thank you GoG, i have many fond memories of playing this game from growing up.
I own this still on disc... I loved this game back in the day. It is an awesome game. Highly recommend it if you like RTS games.
high rated
Hmm seems GOG wasn't able to procure a manual from somewhere. I own it on disk but I'd imagine not too many people are that fortunate.

Remembering that this game was once on Steam.. Steam still hosts the pdf manual here-> *Hint hint GOG*

It's a metaphor for their desperate attempt at rekindling the GOG love of old.

Manual for Empires is available after installing the game.
It has a shortcut-link in start menu and is also available here.

Perfect, nothing said, hadn't checked the folders yet :) (kind of expected the manual to be in the goodies section for easy access)

Damn, I was going to offer my copy... if I could find it. Got one somewhere. Lol
Can anyone who played both this and Empire Earth share few words of comparison?
It's pretty obvious those two games are very similar and it's not a surprise at all since they are made by the same developer just have different publisher and release date (two years in between is not much).
Cool, wishlisted for now.

Now we're missing only two Rick Goodman-designed games: the first AoE and Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War. But Microsoft will probably never share their stash of old games and who knows where the latter ended up with Midway's bankruptcy.
I can't believe I've never heard of this game. It looks amazing! I've been in a serious RTS mood lately and have been wondering if/which I should buy. The span of ages has me going for this one. Thank you, GOG! :D
