eric5h5: Q: Why does it cost money?
A: It took some effort to make.
They should either finish the game that people already paid for first or they should provide it free to everyone who already supported the developer by buying the game. It is fine to make it an extra cost thing for anyone who hasn't already purchased the game, but not to demand more money from people who already paid for the game. At least provide a code to everyone if they think some people will want to give them extra money.

This really pisses me off. I'm beginning to see that the "never early access" people have just been through a few more rounds of "this developer seems decent... never mind" than I have. I've recommended the game a few times despite it being early access and regret it. This kind of thing is why it makes more sense to wait until games are on sale for $2 rather than then try to support the developer. If you support the developer, they will just say "ha, a sucker, give me more".
If anything this piece of DLC reminded me that this game exists, so I gave the demo a whirl because I was curious. At first I was floundering a bit because I thought keyboard-only controls would be best way to play (it's not) and while the control tutorial helps it may not be the most intuitive. Once I discovered that actually clicking with my mouse on asteroids to blast and ores to collect via some auto-piloting things got pretty manageable. I just have to watch out not to run into other asteroids or ships while collecting. I tried the controller option but it's way too easy to veer off wildly with the sticks. Yep, KB+M it is. ;)

While I typically avoid games that are still in development I actually had a fun enough time with the demo already that I'll actually be picking it up. :)

DD & Ji Ji: How good is the base game ?
Really good, if you enjoy this kind of thing. It's somewhat grindy, as expected by its gameplay loop, but the physics / features / controls are so good as well as challenging enough to provide a very nice experience.

All in all, I've found it very interesting and the developer works daily on it adding new features and providing better performance, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to folks who enjoy space-related games. Just try the demo and find out for yourself.

trusteft: How can we have a working DLC for sale when the base game is still in development?
avatar
JMB9: As this is a package of mere skins - no changes to the gameplay or saved games.
Just for fans loving this game and wanting to support devs or liking to look like cats ...
It is a styling only DLC ...
I see, thank you for the info.

eric5h5: Play the demo and find out; aside from not being able to load saved games it's the same as the full game.

soosgjr: For the time being, even that limitation is supposed to be disabled.
I just checked the page and read the info left there including the pinned comment.
It convinced me to pay for the full game, something which I never do for games in development.

Don't like it, don't buy it.

You conveniently didn't quote the next part:
Q: I don’t want this!
A: Good. If it was something everyone liked, it should not be a DLC, but rather a content patch. DLCs are supposed to be optional.
They're not "demanding" anything. It's 100% optional and cosmetic, and has no effect on the game itself. It's an extra thing that required extra work that has no bearing whatsoever on whether the game is out of early access or not.

JackknifeJohnson: In space, no one heard me scream.
Few, indeed, return the call of the wild.
How did Bioware not come up with this first?
