You can use DownThemAll! Firefox plugin. You can queue stuff in it, It can pause and resume, and you can alter the maximum concurrent downloads to one. This is all I need from a downloading client.

In my opinion Galaxy as a front end software should just be canned. For crossplay with steam users the devs have to adjust their game anyways and then they can just use the galaxy API as a back end technology to allow server browsing and connecting to the other steam game clients directly in the game.
They should focus on the normal website utilizing HTML5 to its fullest and doing social stuff that way.
But _some_ people really like to get a popup overlay on their games directdraw surface I guess :-(
Or are too stupid to navigate to their C:\games folder to see what games they have and too lazy to download the newest patch before starting to play a new game. I don't know.

CharlesGrey: The ability to pause and resume downloads? But wasn't that already a standard feature of the minimalistic old GOG downloader client? Y'know, just like the ability to download compressed installers, instead of the unpacked, full size game files. >_>

It's a bit sad if the current Galaxy client lacks basic features, which were already existent in the old downloader years ago. But actually, doesn't Galaxy also allow you to download the installer packages? Pretty sure I read about that in some other threads.
While the missing pause function was definitely suspect (as well as the current lack of file/hash checking which the downloader has), the Galaxy client can actually be used to download compressed installers. The issue is that the Galaxy's "install" function (which acts as a web installer on the go) downloads the full uncompressed files, as opposed to trying to strike a balance.
The game crashes for me when I start book 4, after the white screen... anyone else?
Book 4 is really good!!!
Better then Book 2 (that was really good), because there are lot's of locations, good story and good puzzles.
Better then Book 1 (that was good), because there is some dreamtime power!!
Better then Book 3 (that was meh)... because it has good story and good cutscenes but it's not an interactive film... and it's long enought (not like book 3 that was really too short)
Maybe the GOG downloader is still a handy alternative to downloading with browser or galaxy

Anyway I still prefer downloading games using that. It just works flawlessly.

Do I have to play through the first 3 books to get to book 4, or is there some way to skip ahead.
In other words, I can't seem to find my saved games from from the previous version of the game.
Never mind, I found them.

Grargar: Will the fabled rhino show up in this chapter or will Dalthnock feel once again the crushing wave of disappointment from its absence? Tune with us to find out!
I should really start playing this game.

But it doesn't matter whether I'll play it soon or in 10 years. I will not forget.

Some day, Mr. Tørnquist & I will cross paths again - it's a small world, after all. And you can bet my first words will be the question "Raggie baby, where is my Rhino?", followed by the casual remark "You have a nice place here, it'd be a shame if anything happened to it."

I replayed the first three chapters, only to have the game crash when I tried to grab Likho's hand, right at the end of the third chapter. So, no fourth chapter for me until they do a patch, I guess.
I purchased Dreamfall after Book 3 was released, and now that Book 4 is out, I can't find anyway to download the latest chapter.

I've checked both in the game, on my GOG bookshelf, and searched google, but I can't find a way to get the next chapter.

What am I missing?

You need to re-download the game from your library and install it.
That seems like a rather inefficient way to go about it.

How do I back up my save files for the new install?

You don't need to, just make sure not to remove the save when you uninstall the old game.
Will it offer me that choice when uninstalling?

Is there a folder I can back up just in case? I don't want to uninstall and lose everything.
