Fantastic Beasts And How to Slay Them.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, the monster-hunting epic that keeps challenging you with dynamic encounters, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Tackling monsters shouldn't be just a roadblock in your epic adventure - it should be the very essence of it. In this massive open-world RPG every fight is its own reward thanks to the dynamic mechanics and deep customization. Train and upgrade your A.I. controlled pawns to fight alongside you or share them online with other adventurers and get rewarded for their exploits.

The 60% discount will last until June 20, 1PM UTC.

NOTE: The game comes with full GOG Galaxy support including Cloud saves, leaderboards, and achievements. Additionally, both the Pawn system and Ur Dragon work exactly as in the Steam version. Keep in mind, however, that the GOG Galaxy servers are separate from the Steam ones, meaning that this is a fresh start.

Watch the trailer.

Please those who bought the GOG version help me confirm some things.
Does this game works fine with win 10 and Nvidia Geforce?
Does it work well with those PC controllers (those that kinda look like a PS3 controller)
Can you play it offline? (I don't care about getting other player's pawns)
megaton news! Great going, GOG!

LurkerLito: That's because of the Pawn System. I have played the steam version offline, and it works fine. The problem is the selection of pawns is really bad in comparison to the pawns created by players in regards to skill and behavior choices. You will definitely want to be online to use the pawn system. The pawns are still AI controlled not actual players controlling them in your game, but the skill choices and behavior are set by the other players who made them. The computer generated ones pale in comparison because they tend to just be randomized skills and AI traits.

capricorn1971ad: have to agree with all this fully.

I have this on steam and after i started playing i started using family library sharing just to build pawns, the way I wanted them, I have one of each class, I NEVER have the wrong pawns.

duping is easy on the servers using steam, if the rift is between steam and gog it will make outfitting easy.
Oooo another great use for Family Sharing, I'll add it to the list. Unfortunately it was no good for its intended use.

I think the general thing is if it's on gog, you can play at least the single player campaign offline, DRM free is one of the few things gog has left compared to other sites/steam
Are the Pawn Pools separate in this version?

I don't know much about the game's pawn system, but can't you just make your own? I mean, if other players are making them and you can use theirs, why can't you just make your own?
Well, I said I'd get it if it were on here and it's here. When it rains it pours on this site it seems. This does save me the dilemma of which of the 8 gen consoles to get it on.

bigblueogre: Is it worth picking up? It looks similar to Monster Hunter...and does it have a LAN option?
It plays differently, but it´s worth a buy.

Not as big as the elder scrolls games, but with far better combat (you can climb on giant enemies in order to stab them in the back for example) and a still very deep rpg system.

Cannot say anything about lan, because I only played it on xbox 360. It wasn´t multiplayer, but you could lend someone your pawn if you had xbox-live.

You can only create one pawn that will accompany you all the time. The other 2 have to be choosen from between random generated pawns and other players pawns.

From what i just read, you make 1 pawn, and can hire up to two other pawns. The hired pawns are made by other players. Hired pawns do not level up, so you will need to swap them out.

Okay, so you need to constantly swap out the hires? Oh ye gods, what a fucked up system.

I guess this leads to another question: is the game even playable without hiring pawns? i.e. can you play (and enjoy) this game with only the one pawn you create yourself and the player character?

Hey guys,

To answer some of your questions:

1. The Pawn system and Ur Dragon both work exactly as in the Steam version.
2. The GOG Galaxy servers are separate from the Steam ones meaning that this is a fresh start.
(well, fresh-ish because a few of us here tested this game (THOROUGHLY) before the release today;) )

So, we can share pawns over galaxy, is that what I'm understanding?

edit share, not shard

Is this game just the sequel to Dragon's Dogma or does it include the original game?

It´s Dragon´s Dogma + DLC + the Dark Arisen addon.
