Fantastic Beasts And How to Slay Them.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, the monster-hunting epic that keeps challenging you with dynamic encounters, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Tackling monsters shouldn't be just a roadblock in your epic adventure - it should be the very essence of it. In this massive open-world RPG every fight is its own reward thanks to the dynamic mechanics and deep customization. Train and upgrade your A.I. controlled pawns to fight alongside you or share them online with other adventurers and get rewarded for their exploits.

The 60% discount will last until June 20, 1PM UTC.

NOTE: The game comes with full GOG Galaxy support including Cloud saves, leaderboards, and achievements. Additionally, both the Pawn system and Ur Dragon work exactly as in the Steam version. Keep in mind, however, that the GOG Galaxy servers are separate from the Steam ones, meaning that this is a fresh start.

Watch the trailer.

XYCat: Guys how does multiplayer in this game work? I mean I hear that you can have companions from other players but are those companions only from gog players or from every player? I mean are they stored in a cloud somewhere or do you actually have to connect with other players to get those companions?

paladin181: You log in through Galaxy to access the pawn pool (only GOG players available in this version). Or you can use randomly generated offline pawns, which are usually inferior to the player made ones. Mentioned earlier are also mods that allow you to manage pawns.
But you don't need to directly connect to a specific person? I mean you just connect with galaxy and you can get some totally unrelated person's pawns as long as the person uploads them?

serpantino: Great release, thoroughly enjoyed it (bought it on steam on release) surprised to see it on here.
Are the controls with keyboard and mous good on the pc? I only played the game on ps3.
Nice, don't know if my i5-3570K and GTX 670 (2GB) could run this safely though.

At least on the Steam version they are. I don't like controller on this game so I got around 350 hours with mouse and keyboard, you can rebind most controls (sans some menus) and mouse aiming is great.

The waaave is pushing meee... to buy this game again! I feel the blood in my veins!

PSA to new buyers:

Do yourselves a favour, and look for a mod to restore "Into Free ~Dangan~" as the intro song to this game. The original Dragon's Dogma had it, but it was removed from Dark Arisen because of licencing issues.
The song is ludicrous, and doesn't fit the tone or setting of the game AT ALL. But it's awesome, and you soon won't be able to imagine the game without it.

A message to GOG and Capcom:

I own the original Dragon's Dogma and Dark Arisen on console, and I have played both for an obscene amount of time. But I will happily buy it again here, because:

a) I wish to support GOG and its effort to bring AAA games to the platform
b) I wish to support Capcom and encourage them to bring more of their games to GOG
c) I wish to support the Dragon's Dogma IP, because the game is AWESOME, and I'm dying for a sequel :D

Exactly. It's a central pool.

I do hope GoG shows these kinds of messages to the Publishers.

Hickory: The only immature reaction has been yours (and the other person). My reaction was one of ignorance, not immaturity.
To be honest, now that you mentioned it i somehow confused the meaning of ignorance and immaturity.
I wouldn't call my reation immature, i just used an inappropriate word. My bad and apologize for it.

I bought this game on Steam when it was released there and loved it. This is the best action-RPG I've ever played, despite the facts that I don't really like the pawn system, and that I was annoyed I could only make 1 character.

Bought it again anyway, for a DRM free version and to show Capcom (and other publishers) that releasing this kind of games on GOG is worth doing money-wise.

Indeed, and I'll add mine as well:

I didn't bother with this game when it was first released for PC because it was tied to Steam - and I only buy Steam games at a steep, steep discount. Kind of fell off my radar, so I don't even know if it was offered for 5 bucks on Steam or not. Regardless, when it showed up DRM-free today: instabuy.
Instabought. As well as all Bethesda games and Brigador. I need more money...

You can manually overwrite save files, that's how I keep several characters. I also didn't like the pawn system so I just launched my pawn into the ocean, never went into the rift again and played it solo, works perfectly fine that way.
Great Game, however I have this in steam and wont be purchasing it again.
For those that can afford to and want to or those that do not have this game yet (why not) then it is a gem and great fun. Even after completing the game you can go new game plus where things will be harder but it gives you more enjoyment playing.

Now all we want is for them to bring the Dragons Dogma Online version to Europe and the other parts of teh world, right now its only available in Japan.

Tell me about it. I also need a whole lot more time! Over the past few days, I grabbed the three Bethesda games, this one, and the Bundlestars Fantasy Heroes 2 bundle. Ye gods, I need another lifetime. Maybe I'll respect and start again... :P
