This is how a new age of epic fantasy RPGs was spawned.

<span class="bold">Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition</span>, which marked the triumphant resurgence of epic party-based RPGs, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Some RPG enthusiasts enjoy customizing their character and carefully picking their travelling companions based on both their personalities and combat skills. Some enjoy dark, engaging narratives with branching elements and dozens of side-quests. Others just want to hack at giant dragons and demonic hordes. Dragon Age: Origins walked the extra mile, also letting players shape their legendary Grey Warden by playing through their unique backstory. The whirlwind of wild magic, gruesome battles, complex politics, tough moral choices, and dramatic moments that ensued helped cement this epic adventure as one of the most influential ones in recent memory. And that was even before that night when Morrigan approached you with a certain offer...

Gather your party of memorable NPCs and venture against the tides of darkness in <span class="bold">Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

After reading great reviews for Dragon Age Origins I decided to order it from Amazon. It arrived in a plastic clamshell container and for whatever reason, EA in their infinite wisdom decided to print the key code on the plastic instead of a piece of paper as done by most. The problem was the ink had smeared. Was that a G or a 6? I entered 6 to find out it was the wrong selection and was permanently locked out of ever installing DOA again so I returned it to Amazon swearing I would never give EA my business again.

It wasn't long after that when reading a review of Witcher on Amazon that a reviewer suggested going to Good Old Games/GOG for drm free software.

I was amazed that I could finally play games without the cd/dvd drive constantly running. The selection of games offered not only Witcher and all the Neverwinter, Baldurs, Might and Magics etc. that I could ever hope to find drm free! That first winter for me GOG had all of around 250 games in their catalog. I have bought twice that since then and still eagerly look to see what's happening every day. I don't even bother to pursue other venues for software, I know the folks at GOG are doing the best they can to make everything they offer stable and have not had a problem yet. The only game software I install on my computers comes from GOG. The only thing with steam on it on my lil half acre is a pile of dog poo on a cold day.

And now I come full circle, I can buy DAO drm free. Thanks GOG for all your efforts to bring us the games we want, DRM FREE!

Thanks to both.

So, the lowest recorded price on Steam was 4,4€.
Maybe I'll wait the next big promo on Gog, then.

Fairfox: I know naaazing about this gamie. Too much moolah for me on a whim (same-old, alas), but yaaayz, because it's apparently awesome-win-sauce according to, like, teh internets?
yeah the internets! you can catch a lot of fish in the internets :P

I think it's a really fun game. Would have been a totally awesome - I'm guessing - if the publishers were, say, Paradox Interactive instead of EA. I have played nearly 20 hours and have found a bug that just trapped the character for good, so I had to load a save. And the crashes. It has crashed once when I've arrived to a new location. It has crashed twice when I took a break and closed my laptop's lid. And it has also crashed after switching to surf the internets for an hour or so.
But I still love it :)

high rated
All the DLCs have been included now (yes, even the Collector's Items, even a Tale of Orzammar adventure from PCGAMER), GOG released a new patch today, so now GOG's version has absolutely everything DAO.

GOG.com: Missing CE items + A Tale of Orzammar have just been added in a patch.

You can just download the new patch instead :)

True, but I like to keep my installers all shiny and up to date. It's no biggie, I no longer have to worry as I can't hit my new cap even if I try, so off it goes to download overnight.

Can I continue an existing game, or do I have to start a new game to get the bonus content after installing the patch?

You can buy two bonus items from camp merchant, I'm not sure about Grimoire though. It *should* get added automatically to your inventory on load.
Does the new patch affect any mods installed?

Edit: Seems like "dazip" mods uses the AddIns.xml file, patch don't affect the override folder (alternative way to install mods).

Yes, it's covered in the changelog - basically if you already have the extra stuff installed it'll just overwrite them...

Edit: Been a long day - I read DLC's - sorry :)
