This is how a new age of epic fantasy RPGs was spawned.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, which marked the triumphant resurgence of epic party-based RPGs, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Some RPG enthusiasts enjoy customizing their character and carefully picking their travelling companions based on both their personalities and combat skills. Some enjoy dark, engaging narratives with branching elements and dozens of side-quests. Others just want to hack at giant dragons and demonic hordes. Dragon Age: Origins walked the extra mile, also letting players shape their legendary Grey Warden by playing through their unique backstory. The whirlwind of wild magic, gruesome battles, complex politics, tough moral choices, and dramatic moments that ensued helped cement this epic adventure as one of the most influential ones in recent memory. And that was even before that night when Morrigan approached you with a certain offer...

Gather your party of memorable NPCs and venture against the tides of darkness in Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

tinyE: 22gb?

Well then, that saves me a few bucks. :P

Shit, the 8 I need for Dead Space is going to destroy my monthly allowance as is.
Because it combines the expansion pack and all the DLC into 1 package.

omega64: Worth it though.
What? Dead Space?

DA would literally take me three months to download and none of our guest would be able to check email in that time. :P
Is DA:O-UE truely 100% drm-free?
NO connect to EA servers
NO register EA account
NO register cd-key on EA
NO 'missing' DLC which we need to download from EA servers

The steam 'UE' is missing at least a dozen dlc.
ALL of the dlc should come in the gog installer.

Yes, Dead Space. :P
That's why I removed the reference to DA.

Eh, I'm sure the guests wouldn't mind.

Vitek: So, is it possible to just install and run this version of the game without rolling back to old drivers?
Because I have to do that with my Steam version if I want to play DA:O and it would be neat to not have do it anymore.
How can anyone answer this question, even if they'd like to ?

What drivers are you talking about, what hardware do you have, what GPU, what OS, etc.

I have the ultimate edition of DA:O on Origin, it works 100% fine on the latest AMD drivers, Windows 10.

blotunga: I would re-buy this if it includes the promo items also. Can someone confirm at some point?
It does.
I just broke down and bought this on steam and downloaded it during their summer sale. I am now deleting it and downloading this version. THANKS GOG, i love you.

KneeTheCap: Promo items were available as a free download from Bioware's own forums. Dunno if they're still there.
There were some if I remember right that I had to get from illegal sources. Like Collector's Edition, and DAO_PRC_PROMO_1-5
Hell yeah, great RPG. Been through several times, party first time, then 3 times with different solo characters. Really good value for the £6 they are asking, I own this on disc (actually twice), and I will still buy it at this price. Great release :o)

Well starting the download now so lets hope it wont need to connect to BIoware account like the retail version.

Illegal? Nope, they were officially released for free by Bioware themselves. But as I said before, I don't know if they're still available.

Edit. Ah, they're here http://social.bioware.com/da2/dlc_bundle/

But than again if it does at least check if all the DLC and Expansion content comes installed with the game becasue if they are installed with the base game than the EA/Bioware connect is now worthless and won't affect the game right?
now do we still have to sign in with an account?

Thiev: It does.
You mean even the Collector's Edition items like Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes? That one is in no other version legally afaik.
Interestingly, the base price for DA here is $10 less than on Steam or Origin. Hm... I'm not complaining. ;)
