This is how a new age of epic fantasy RPGs was spawned.

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, which marked the triumphant resurgence of epic party-based RPGs, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 60% launch discount.

Some RPG enthusiasts enjoy customizing their character and carefully picking their travelling companions based on both their personalities and combat skills. Some enjoy dark, engaging narratives with branching elements and dozens of side-quests. Others just want to hack at giant dragons and demonic hordes. Dragon Age: Origins walked the extra mile, also letting players shape their legendary Grey Warden by playing through their unique backstory. The whirlwind of wild magic, gruesome battles, complex politics, tough moral choices, and dramatic moments that ensued helped cement this epic adventure as one of the most influential ones in recent memory. And that was even before that night when Morrigan approached you with a certain offer...

Gather your party of memorable NPCs and venture against the tides of darkness in Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 60% launch discount will last until July 21, 12:59 PM UTC.

Well I live in italy and outside some big city you can only get a 7-20 mb ADSL (there is no fibre available) or a crappy GB cap mobile connection (I hate limited to 20GB 3g or LTE connection... I prefer my slow 7 mb ADSL and download any content with a slow 500 kb/s connection but without worry about limited GB cap).

here after the GB cap you can only surf at 32 kb (so you can only visit wikipedia).

Sure LTE is fast and you can actually use a smartphone tethering like a modem if you want... but GB cap sucks

EDIT. I know 20 mb ADSL does sound great... but just try to upload something and you will understand why fibre is better. the upload speed is limited to 1mb even on 20mb ADSL.

Thiev: Nothing was reported by our QA but then if the game works fine regardless of connection state (offline / online) they had no reason to look past that.
avatar
BAZ: Wait, your wording sounds awful, are you saying you only care if the game works in an offline state, and that it don't matter what the game does if your pc is online capable?

O_o hehe
The inquiry does sound a bit nitpicky, not saying that's a bad thing, I'm a very nitpicky person, but I know that my nitpickiness has a tendency to irritate people. I get why you're asking the question, but would the answer influence your purchase decision? You could always just try it and see whether you get the firewall popup, or someone else that has tried already can let us know.

EDIT: you know... once someone has had the chance to download 22 friggin gigabytes :P

Thiev: No, I meant that offline and online states behave the same.
Awesome, thanks for clarifing and the discussion.

I'm once again pleased with how gog is handling their business...... cept those two games that still have content locked behind online-drm. Boo for those two. (reason why I've not bought on gog in over a ?year?)

I only brought it up, because I was concerned if the gog version still had the un-authorized auto-connect the steam version has.

And what two games are you referring to?

tinyE: This is a real sign and I live 50 miles north of it. :P

Maxvorstadt: Looks really like the end of the world! Why do you live there? Are you fleeing from something? Police? Mafia? Imperial Stormtroopers?
As much as I love talking about myself this is seriously taking away from a great game so I'm going to stop now. :P

JudasIscariot: And what two games are you referring to?
My memory my be failing, but from what I can recall, it was maybe Age of Wonders 3, and Victor Vran... unless they were later patched or something.

And I'm not talking about non-content stuff like.... what was it, rankings? I'm talking about content, like game modes, or items, or events that require you to login after registering.

Was wondering that myself.

EDIT: ninja'd.

Victor Vran was patched a long time ago, I think maybe a week after the game's release and all of the content for Age of Wonders 3 is available for single player.

If you have concrete proof, please feel free to share :)
WTF? I think I am dreaming lol. I can't believe this is on GoG!!! And even Dead Space. What happened at EA? Did the one in charge die or something? I never expected to see these games here on GoG. I must resist ... I already have the games on Disc (SecuROM) and Origin. DA I think I bought 3 times already (1 at launch, 1 with the Awakenings, then 1 with the Ultimate Edition release).

I'm sure there was a gog game besides victor vran, that had you sign up for some site/register, to play online, was that NOT AoW3?

(basically, the multiplayer without their services, was limited in some way, again, I'm not talking about stat tracking of wins/loses, etc.)

I agree. I don't want to tell you what awful things I was saying about GOG yesterday when there was no news/activity... I wasn't pleased. Just highlights my unhealthy addiction to GOG... nice work GOG, mission accomplished.

But today, all is forgiven ;)
Good to see this game here. What about the Mac version? I'd love to buy it here.

Instabuy!

Thank you!!!!
