Feeling nostalgic or just awfully trigger-happy? Check out our Bethesda shooters sale.

ped7g: (…) Still the D3 gameplay is so different, that the battles will be too off to directly compare to D1/2. When I died, it was usually due to being surprised a bit, and a bit of "clumsiness" of main character movement (when it is being hit, it's receiving serious pushback and aiming disruption). So it's usually: too easy, too easy, too easy, and then you die in a sec when you have a bit weaker moment.

Probably the most correct thing is to accept Doom3 is simply completely different game from 1/2, and enjoy it as that.

mk47at: IMO the worst problem of Doom 3 is the shotgun: It sounds and feels very weak.
I actually regarded the worst problem that they supplied the steam version of bfg without any form of MP support essentially they supplied half the game. Wouldn't be so bad but the engine is opened up to the public so gog could just have recompiled it with LAN support in and actually made it worth buying!
Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to play the expansions in the BFG edition without playing the main campaign first?

I'm pretty it's a stand alone game.

The Original D3 was. I can't imagine they changed that for BFG.

Well, I read that you get to choose between the three campaigns when you start a new game, but I couldn't find any information on whether you have to "unlock"/"earn" the expansions first. Probably not, just making sure. Thanks!

Wait wait wait, that doesn't sound familiar. Maybe they did change it for BFG. I'd double check before you do anything else.
You don´t have to unlock them. You can choose from the start. I know, because I played them.
Any chance for the non-compilation version of D3 and expansion to appear in gog store? I don't like the gameplay (or any other) changes that BFG edition brings...

When I first installed Doom 3 BFG, it gave me 3 options to play: the main campaign, the Resurrection of Evil expansion, or The Lost Mission. You should be able to play The Lost Mission without starting the main campaign.

@Linko90

I hope you read this .

Is there any sign of a Gog release of the original Doom 3 and its expansion ? This fancy castrated version isn't worth a cent if you want to play custom created mods .
