Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 75% launch discount.
Back to reclaim its FPS throne, Doom 3 adds a strong dose of claustrophobic horror into the series' timeless cocktail of explosive action, horrific enemies, and ultra-violent massacre.

The BFG Edition is the game's remastered version, containing DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 3, and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, as well as The Lost Mission.

Feeling nostalgic or just awfully trigger-happy? Check out our Bethesda shooters sale.
The 75% discount will last until August 28, 1 PM UTC.
I don't play FPS much anymore, but... bought. Partly nostalgia (many many hours in Doom 2), and in hope that sales here will somehow mean we will get Skyrim eventually too.

Vythonaut: Keep those Bethesda releases coming! A big thanks to all parties involved for this great GOG release. Instabuy! :)
I'm probably in the minority but I'd buy Terminator 2029: Deluxe instantly.

whats the difference between the remastered and the original one? someone mentioned 'consolified', does that mean weird UI mechanics like radial dials etc?
Too greedy, to wait. Got it!
Is this the castrated edition of the game ?

Klumpen0815: Two Questions:
1) Why is this one region locked for Germans?
2) Does it still work on XP or did you insert some Galaxy API again?
1. It should be a mistake, unless the GOG version includes the original expansion too.
@GOG: Remove the region locks, please.

2. I've searched for the game's requirements and it seems that the BFG edition has never been compatible with Windows XP (the original version was).

Can we have orginal Doom 3 instead of bfg abomination?
Well, I guess I'll just buy the original on Steam.

edit: Apparently it's even DRM free over there, or at least can be (legally) patched to be.

While I'm very happy to get a version of Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil here, I'd like to request the original releases of Doom 3 and the expansion alongside the BFG. The "other store" offers all options of the game and I'd love to see GOG get the same treatment. The BFG edition is nice but makes enough changes that I think both have a solid customer base here.

Just a couple of many examples, but Resurrection of Evil has been modified and chunks of the game were removed or changed to ensure a German release (so why it's currently unavailable there on GOG at this time is beyond me). There is also a major change to the mechanics of the flashlight, which arguably removes the fear factor. In the original Doom 3 one had to manually enable the flashlight which would be held by Doomguy and prevent a major weapon from being simultaneously held/used. This made players choose wisely between remaining armed and in the dark and illuminating the enemies without much defense. In the BFG edition the flashlight is attached to Doomguy's gear meaning it can be used without occupying the hands and major weaponry can still be used. It's a major change.

Sorry for the long read. I love these games and feel that there's a desire for the originals as well as the BFG edition at GOG. :)

Geddes17: Please, GOG, do the right thing and finally implement an age verification system! It really sucks not to be able to buy so much games just because I'm living in Germany ...
Hear hear!

Could you give more details on this or provide a link to a list of changes? I'd like to know what's changed here.
According to the game's page, this includes Doom1 Ultimate and Doom 2. Is that really so?

Another special fu germans promo ?
I was immediately reminded of Spoony's review of DOOM 3.

Mind you, I have not played the game, so I've no idea how accurate his review is, or if any of it applies to this edition. I just think it's a funny blast from the past.
