Doom 3: BFG Edition is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 75% launch discount.
Back to reclaim its FPS throne, Doom 3 adds a strong dose of claustrophobic horror into the series' timeless cocktail of explosive action, horrific enemies, and ultra-violent massacre.

The BFG Edition is the game's remastered version, containing DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 3, and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, as well as The Lost Mission.

Feeling nostalgic or just awfully trigger-happy? Check out our Bethesda shooters sale.

nemesismartyn: Just a quick question: As the gamepage states, if i buy Doom 3: BFG, i also can play DOOM 1 and DOOM 2?
Is this correct?

DOOM 1 + 2 + 3 for nearly 6$ seems like a steal. I know about the differences of DOOM 3 to the first 2 games, but just getting this for DOOM 1+2 is good, isnt it?
Yes, you can launch either of the three games from the same executable. Just keep in mind that Doom 1 and 2 are somewhat modified from the standalone releases:

The original Doom 3 + RoE is $10 on Steam (currently on sale), which seems like a perfect price-point for GOG.
When should we exect Hereic and Hexen released on GOG?

IronArcturus: How well does the BFG Edition run on Win7?

Leucius: My understanding is it was basically made for Win 7.
About three years ago I played a little bit of DOOM BFG edition on a machine with windows XP SP3.

Vythonaut: Keep those Bethesda releases coming! A big thanks to all parties involved for this great GOG release. Instabuy! :)
WOW! Hopefully, we'll get FO4/DOOM in 3 years or so! Until then looks like two more games that I get to uninstall from steam, love it when I can fill up my de-steamed steam category, it's now up to 55!
The sheer amount of games being given for this purchase is insane. I was surprised to not see any additional gamecards for the classics. Do the original dooms not use dosbox in this release?

Doom 1 and 2 can be launched by first launching Doom 3 BFG and then selecting Doom 1 or 2. They're censored and otherwise extremely bastardized versions of the games, however, so you're much better off buying them separately.

I just want to give my support to those requesting the original version of Doom 3 on GOG. The flashlight restriction in the original game was an important gameplay mechanic and part of the original design, without it it's just not the same game.

mike_cesara: Rage
I would buy RAGE at any price they drop here on GOG.com!

The original version of Doom3, which I have on disk, didn't even need to have the disks after installing. Did have a code but ID did that all the time, but other than that it was just install and play. Would like to see it here as well too though.

Damn it. I've been waiting for this game to show up here for so long & i was definitely hoping for the original versions of Doom 3 + ROE here :(

Can't you guys at GOG put them up for sale separately or offer them with Doom 3 BFG?

I'm also throwing in my request for the original Doom 3 and Resurrection of Evil both.

It's nice that they gave us the BFG version and all, but there's some reasons why people demanded the original version of the game and expansion be returned to Steam after they were removed and replaced by the BFG edition. Thankfully, they were indeed returned to the Steam store afterwards.

There's just too many differences between the original release of Doom 3 plus RoE expansion and the BFG edition that some of us don't care for as much. Plus, differences that make it less compatible with various mods and such.

Surely both can be added as a bonus to the BFG edition?

I'd like to see both added as a bonus to the BFG edition on top of being for sale seperate. The funny thing is, people complain that the company doesn't have the orginial version of doom III or the expansion but both are for sale on Steam for $2.50 USD. There may be some kind of hitch with the cd-key protection being an issue preventing the orginials from coming over. I know I've had CD-key related issues.

Was editing my post to fix it a little/add details I meant to put in before I saw your post.

I meant to add how they actually removed the original game and expansion from the Steam store when they put up the BFG edition in its place. There were enough complaints about it and demand for the original version of the game and expansion that they were brought back to Steam separately from the BFG edition.

We could definitely use them here, too. Still my favorite version of it.
You finally bring Doom 3 to GOG and its the fucking BFG edition.

It's not a 'Good Old Game' if you're releasing the shitty cash-grab version. See BeamDog shit.
