fortune_p_dawg: I'm sure the GOG key will work perfectly fine, but Judas has stated that there are no authorized resellers of GOG keys. So, if GOG for whatever reason determined that a person used a key that was initially purchased with a stolen credit and then sold to G2A or another reseller from which the user bought said key, my guess is they could opt to not fully support that person's copy of a game.

Though I don't know this for sure.

Azonn: It it's the case, i ensure you i will uninstall it directly GoG and go back to steam immediatly... for sure
The GOGosphere isn't based as much on key trading/selling/reselling like Steam. I think the idea is that GOG wants it's users to buy directly from it's storefront, which is why you don't see key resellers like G2A hocking GOG keys in nearly the same volume as they do Steam keys. I'd stay the hell away from G2A if I were you; sure, what they're doing IS legal but it seems like more of a pawn shop for game keys than anything.

mrkgnao: My issue (as someone who hasn't bought the game) is that the CE now costs $70, whereas yesterday it cost $50.
That's to be expected, I assume a similar difference happened for the base game. You aren't buying the one year old D:OS anymore you are buying a game released today thus it has a higher base price. It may be just a very large update to an existing game but that's how it is.

Also, the fact that those that bought it yesterday get a free $20 upgrade is just a nice gesture by Larian, they didn't have to do it (and could have asked for a $20 EE upgrade DLC for example), don't use this nice gesture as an argument against them for raising the price for the EE purchasable copies.
avatar
DyNaer: why including the original version, since they claim the enhanced version is superior ? o_O ,
The EE has large changes to the story, many people would revolt if suddenly they force these story changes on owners of existing D:OS. Making it a separate download makes sense in that case.

DyNaer: as you pointed out payind 30 euro more (or whatever) is just ridiculous if you just want the soundtrack. + extra goodies.
I hate preorder bonuses, but DOS was released ONE YEAR ago. So you had more than one year to buy the game and the DLC. One year with a few sales. It seems that this windows is closed now - but the new option is not ridiculous.
avatar
mattymuc: I also had the Kickstarter CE (Source Hunter DLC). This bonus content is missing in the EE. Is this a mistake?
My assumption is that it's integrated into the Enhanced Edition. Note I'm just assuming. I've nothing to back that up.

if memory serves me well, the price ot the original version was the same. (i was a backer so i can be 100% certain)

the only issue ; is the price of the collector editon.

so your argument isn't valid. unless you mean you buy 2 differents games if you are going for the collector's edition. I didn't followed pretty well the changes in the EE, so if there are so many changes, that explains why the original version is included in the CE.....

well , i wasn't speaking for myself (i was a backer & and my pledge was high enough to get the collector's edition), That doesn't mean i shouldn't have some concerns for those who don't have the game yet.

Not exactly.
The base game costs the same yesterday and today ($40).
And so far anyone who owned the collector's edition yesterday, got the base EE today, not the collector's EE.

I still see source hunter under the original game, but under the Enhanced Edition no DLC is listed. Are you thinking the DLC is just included with the enhanced edition and is no longer listed as a DLC?

Here's the list from the Kickstarter update:

- Full controller support for one and two players
- Dynamic split-screen support for local co-op play
- Sleek new UI for use with controller
- Full AAA voice-overs for all characters
- New sound effects and improvements made to existing effects
- Main quest revamped to include more characters, more events, and more adventure
- A new ending, with a reworked and expanded plot
- Existing quests updated and polished Storyline background expanded
- Companions now banter and argue with one another
- Invest skill points in the new Dual Wielding ability to improve your proficiency
- Hurl elemental, area of effect, status-setting, and damage-causing grenades. This comes with the new Bombardier ability, letting you spend skill points to improve your proficiency.
- Wands are brand new one-handed ranged weapons dealing elemental damage. They come pre-charged with an additional powerful skill that the player can invoke 1-4 times, depending on his or her Wand skill level. The skill also determines your attack range with wands (from barely-out-of-melee to bow-level).
- Explorer Mode. Formerly "Casual," Explorer players will face less-fierce enemies and enjoy a higher chance of knocking them dead, freeing up the player's time to discover, craft, sleuth, and travel outside of combat.
- Classic Mode. Formerly "Normal". What we suggest for first-time players (who've played a classic cRPG before).
- Tactician Mode. A brand new game setting featuring smarter, stronger enemies to challenge combat-oriented players.
- Honour Mode. All the challenge of Tactician Mode, but in Honour Mode you only have a single save and a single life (no resurrecting!) at your disposal. If your character goes down, it's game over.
- Tactician and Honour modes feature re-designed encounters and puzzles, including new mechanics, monsters, skills, and challenges. Enemy AI is more intelligent and designed to defend against past players' most commonly-used tactics.
- New traps have been added, making tactics, puzzles, and simply moving around in the world more challenging than ever.
- New skills and skill system
- New tiered skill system ('Novice', 'Adept', 'Master') allows you to learn devastating new abilities as you progress in your chosen school of magic. 15+ new skills featuring custom animations and damage
- Existing encounters have been improved and re-balanced to provide a more consistent experience throughout all zones.
- Now includes upgraded AI to better counter the player’s tactics
- Updated system makes crafting more intuitive
- New creatures - Elemental Wards, Enchanted Armours, Bolt-stricken Zombie, Arcane Vortex, Nether Jester, Poison Slug, Spitfire Totem, Void Crystal, Oilskin ExploSkeleton, Soul of Desperation, Angry Chest
- New cut scenes added and old cut scenes improved
- Skills have been rebalanced and redistributed into skill schools in more cohesive themes.
- Balancing changes have made mid- and late-game combat more dynamic and engaging.
- Existing Abilities and Talents have been rebalanced.
- Weapon ability progression has been updated to differentiate play styles based on weapon types (e.g. the 'Two-handed weapons' theme now focuses on slow weapons that do monstrous damage with each strike, while 'Dual Wielding' is centered around unleashing a hail of rapid blows on your enemies.)
- Vendors offer more variety and sell better loot.
- Magical items are built up differently. Items' use requirements have been revised.
- Economy (gold value and rarity of all items) has been revised.
- Treasure generation and traders have been overhauled to be less random and use a system that guarantees better variation in drops over time.
- Weapons, armour, shields, potions, and statuses have been rebalanced.
- Our top-secret formulas that calculate hit chances, crit chances, damage, armour, blocking, and more have all been carefully revised and improved.
- 'Saving throws' formula has been improved.
- New items and item combos added for creating wands and grenades
- 360-degree camera, with improved art assets for viewing at all angles
- Reworked visuals for improved performance
- Textures were updated to improve performance DirectX 11 was added, which improves performance. Because of these changes, the game now only works on 64-bit Operating Systems.
- New animations for new weapon types (wands and dual wielding)
- New effects and animations for new skills, but also enhanced existing skills
- New custom animations for all NPCs
- New animations for new creatures and destructibles

Yeah, but I realize that's a huge assumption. What makes me think this is the statement of revised and brand new quests in the EE. Makes sense to me that they'd just integrate it right into the game instead of keeping it as a separate DLC.

I guess that only leaves one question open: was there a D:OS CE before the EE release and if so does the CE EE have anything different other than the updated game?

That's an interesting point that the base EE costs the same as the base original game did yesterday although it could be argued that Larian just thought to give everyone a "discount" on the base game EE by keeping it low like that but they didn't do the same for the CE. Yes, I realize that at this point this is stretching arguments.

In the end, Larian made a huge update, they invested a lot of money into it, they are right to charge people if they want that update. In their place I would have made it a separate $20 DLC but they decided to give it for free to existing owners of the game. We knew the date of the EE release for many months and could have purchased the game before today in one of the many promos it had. That said, I understand it can feel frustrating to those that planned to buy it but then said oh wait, just buy it after EE is released and now the realize the game is more expensive than the non-EE.

On Steam, there was and it cost $50. Now, it costs $70 in both places.

Here's the problem, though:

Someone buys/has bought the base game from before and he would like to also get the extras at a later time. Before the release of the Enhanced Edition, he could just pay $10 and get the Source Hunter DLC. Now, that option has been removed for both old and new buyers. You will either get the base version and forget about all the extras or get the Collector's Edition for a price which has been made more expensive, because it includes a second copy of the game. Said second copy will be the base version, leaving the recipient of the second code highly frustrated that he can't have access to the extras without paying $70.

From what I understand, only the in-game content of the Source Hunter DLC is included in the Enhanced Edition. The extras (artbook, design notes, soundtrack) are not.

Since I have the Source Hunter for regular edition I still have all the extras for that edition so for me it's ok. I just wonder if they will still offer the source hunter as a DLC for the original.

If you are talking about the whole DLC package (in-game content and extras), then no, it has been removed from both Steam and GOG. If you didn't buy it before the release of the Enhanced Edition, you are now stuck with a version that can't be upgraded.

A masterpiece, one of the greatest cRPG of all time. For those that haven't played yet, well, you don't know what you're missing.

Thank you Larian for making an already great game better! :)
Still no multiplayer support? Are you kidding me?
