A divine update.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition, the definitive version of one of the deepest modern RPGs ever, is available now DRM-free as a free upgrade to all Divinity: Original Sin owners on GOG.com!

Divinity: Original Sin showed us that there's huge demand for the cRPG genre to come back swinging. Based on the storytelling and combat known from titles like Ultima and Baldur's Gate, Divinity: Original Sin offers completely classic gameplay refined with modern and smooth game mechanics. The perfect mix of classic and new in RPG design. Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition brings a plethora of new improvements that impact nearly every single aspect of the game. Here's what you can expect:

--Local Split-Screen Co-Op - be a couch potato, save the world with big-screen-friendly UI and controller support. Convenient!
--New Story & Content - there's a ton more adventure to enjoy with whole new areas populated with new characters, fully voiced dialogs and quests for over 100 new story moments. The smarter AI is now also rebalanced more fun to play against, and your abilities have been rebalanced and expanded.
--Graphical Improvements - Boom! Stunning! Divinity: Original Sin is now even more beautiful and shiny with a ton of new visual effects and animations, 360° camera and performance improvements to boot.
--New Difficulty Modes - whether you're looking for a casual story experience, or a challenging Ironman mode, you can play the game just the way you want to.

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg with tons of new content and changes ready to be explored. And best of all, it's free if you already own Divinity: Original Sin on GOG.com!

Upgrade to Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition, now DRM-free on GOG.com
Thanks Larian and GOG for the free upgrade! :-)

Unfortunately I'll have to stick with the old version, since my laptop has a directX 10 GPU.
It's great to have this new version available for the future though! :-)

WinterSnowfall: *Sigh*... long story short. If you do purchase the Collector's Edition, you won't get the DLC for the original DoS game. At least it's not showing up for me.

Support seems to confirm this since they mentioned that the original content can no longer be purchased/added (in any way).

Looks like it's gone forever, just like any other missed opportunity.

Grargar: That's strange. The Enhanced Edition's game page on Steam says:

" Are the contents of the Source Hunter DLC included in D:OS EE ?

You will automatically receive Zandalor's trunk and the Golden Grail in your inventory. Bairdotr and Wolgraff DLC are also included."

" What is included in the Collector's Edition:
- 1 Collector's Edition for the buyer (this is the game + design documents + artwork + soundtrack)
- Normal Edition DOS: Enhanced Edition as a gift copy for a friend."

So, by buying the Collector's Edition of the Enhanced Edition, you should get access to everything that the Source Hunter DLC had to offer.
Based on this, I believe WinterSnowfall wants to play the original (non-enhanced) game with the DLC and he cannot because he only has the game and no way to buy the old (non-enhanced) DLC.

Oh, I see. He meant the in-game items for the original version.
Only just realised this. DOS EE replaces the old edition. Damn.

JudasIscariot: It includes the Source Hunter DLC.
Why are the extras from the Source Hunter DLC missing even for previous owners of said DLC? Thankfully we keep the old version but for simple convenience the extras should be included in the new edition free of charge. We can't even upgrade to the collector's editon.
New customers have it even worse since they have to pay way more money just to get these extras at all.
Since I see some of the GOG staff is online, can I get an authoritative answer for the questions I posted earlier this thread?

Thanks!

Only in terms of what's available for purchase, if you already owned the old game you still have it in the Library and can play it. Seems a lot of people are confused about what happened (I wasn't) but it would probably help if GOG were to be more explicit about these things in the future, like:
"On day X we will add Divinity Original Sin EE to everyone that already has the original game purchased by them. NOTE: the original game will disappear from the store, you will not be able to buy it after that day."

JaqFrost: Well, I did what Genoan suggested and I hope others do too: contact Larian, tell them we were referred to them by GOG support, and ask what the deal is with this.
i think i will do the same, because ti's Larian which is at fault there , their FAQ on Steam , is quite confusing.

they constantly mlx-up content for both version, or it's just me who's too tired ;P

It's really unfortunate that since I didn't buy the game before the EE was released that now I will be unable to play it at all (my old PC can't handle DX11). Larian really screwed the pooch making the older version unavailable, even with the purchase of the newer version. Well, they screwed my pooch at least.
Maybe it is about time I play this. I missed kickstarter backing it so backed the sequel for good measure and I figure should play this one first :)

I would have the same problem, if I didn't own the original version.

Since there is a radical change in requirements (from directX 9c to directX 11), I think it would be a great idea, if new buyers could have access to the old version as well. In a way like "buy Enhanced Edition get Original version as a bonus" for example.

Yeah, that's pretty goofy. I wonder what they were thinking?
Thanks for the upgrade!

Oh, I feel sorry for you, that's very unfortunate indeed... I've been in the same boat like you many times through the years as the hardware & software changed and there were compatibillity problems.. Since the DX11 is nearly 5 years old already, maybe you could try to find a cheap second-hand, DX11 compatible video card? (that is of course if you can afford it/ want to upgrade your system)

Yeah, I'm not really sure it's really worthwhile investing any upgrades into my 6 yr old PC.

Regardless, I did do some investigating a couple years ago into a video card upgrade and the best I could do on my motherboard would be to get something like a 460, but looking at the specs and expected performance, I found that I would see little to no actual improvement over my current GTX280. It would end up being an upgrade only to get DX11 compatibility, which just seems silly and a waste of money.

Perhaps I can fit a new PC into my budget in a year or two. Until then, the truth is that there is little this old PC can't run unless DX11 is thrown at it.

I appreciate you taking the initiative to contact them. Curious to hear what they have to say.
