Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.
It's been a meteoric rise for Diablo on the all-time bestselling list at gog. It's on 92nd position after only a bit more than a week, ahead of many classic games. Simply crazy.

"Bring D2, Bring D2" ... Blizzard.com already has it for 10 bucks. Go buy it and play for crying out loud. perfectly compatable with windows 8-10. Been playing for a while now, nothings changed.

Is that Blizzard.com version DRM-free, or is it like you say and "nothings changed"? I will happily wait for it to arrive here, DRM-free, thanks.

Blizzard.com already has it with DRM.
I am willing to pay 20% more here for the DRM-free version.
And yes, Your proposal does not bear any good and new for community.

It requires digital CD Key authentication to play if you buy from their store, some people don't consider that DRM but i do therefore i wouldn't say no to a copy on GOG.

Offline CD key authentication. A theoretical GOG release would just do it automatically by using a generic serial key during installation.

yes that's true (small error) it's been a long time since went to Bnet so i have forgotten about that but it would be better if you could just download it all instead of having these CD keys, it's an annoyance.

Even the GOG release would come with a serial key. Sure, it wouldn't be necessary during installation and for LAN multiplayer, but you would absolutely need it for Battle.net multiplayer.
Any chance for Hellfire and 15th anniversary soundtrack???

You have a key code then email to you when you buy the game, but other then that It's drm FREE.
The installer does not work if you already have a copy of D2 on your computer, but you can copy and paste your D2 folder if you want to play around with mods.

If you had bothered to read earlier in the thread, BLizzard has announced no plans to release Hellfire atthis time.

Truth, but it doesn't hurt to vote if one wants it here: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/diablo_hellfire_1

The only "DRM" is a cd key.

gog2002x: How does one see that top 100 game list on GOG?
avatar
PainOfSalvation: https://www.gog.com/games?sort=bestselling&page=2

Diablo climbed one more spot now being 92nd.

Each page has 48 games, you just need to count the games per page if you are interested in specific game.
Thank you!

happywinner: Just Diablo??
Where is Diablo 2,3 Stracraft 2, Warcraft 3 with expansion???

Really disappointing until i see this ones and i don't plan waiting forever.
Diablo is nice but i never bother to play it, it was old even when i played diablo2...
Just because it was good start for franchise doesn't meant i will waste money and my time on it. Diablo 2 is barrely acceptable by today standards...

GOG have HUGE potential as game distribution platform but they must push much harder if they wanna be successful.

GOG is right platform for game distribution.

They should add their own servers for Multiplayer ( with unified API, for example for emulating something like GameSpy )

Then whole platform start to have more value and grip.

krappled: Why/how would GOG sell Diablo 2, 3, SC2, and Warcraft 3 when Blizzard still actively supports every one of those games which are available from their own platform?

Diablo is very nice, thousands of people agree, and have bought it. If you aren't willing to "waste" your $10 on Diablo, thousands of other people already have, enough of us that it's made it's way to page 3 of the top selling games of all time on GOG in a little over a week.
Diablo is selling really well here, also notice the wording on Blizzard's faqs. There is no straight no, no announcements at this time usually means a huge possibility later on.

I wouldn't say "huge" at all, more like Blizzard don't want to confirm anything one way or another. Sure, as Joe Rogan would say, "It's entirely possible," but let' snot get our hopes up.

Still, remember to vote if you'd buy the games here: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games
