Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

Why, specifically?

When I got there it was myself and one other guy talking about the game and 300 others screaming about world affairs and politics. :P

Nothing against that obviously, but it's a DIABLO server.

Diablo is now on the second page of the alltime bestselling list, more specifically on the 100th place. I wonder how many copies were sold?

I see it as second game on the 3rd page still, despite force-refreshing like crazy. That would be #98 top seller though, right behind IHNMAIMS.

But your guess is as good as any... I reckon it sold happy many copies ;)

I spitballed 100-200k on the third day. At this point, 300-400k seems more than likely (with the top spots being held by games that sold more than a million copies).

My calculations (per my original post)

... noting that the base version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt had performed better on GOG than on Steam (690,000 copies by June 2015, see https://www.gamespot.com/articles/more-people-playing-witcher-3-on-gog-than-on-steam/1100-6428013), and that PC sales represented half of its 33 million copies sold by Q1 2018 (link), we can assume that said game has sold at least one million and likely more than two million copies on GOG by now. Given that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is ranked 19th overall on GOG.com, while Diablo is now in the middle of page six (and therefore ranks in the top 10% of all games and DLC)... following a half-normal distribution (half a bell curve), we can spitball between 100 and 200k copies as of this post. Perhaps even 250k.

Of course, the thing with spitballs is they look like crap and make a mess. So I may be completely off the mark.

tinyE: Oh my god! You got me a Ferrari on my 16th birthday!

Thank you mom and dad! I can't believe....wait.

WAIT!

BLACK!?

I WANTED RED!

WTF!? You can take this car and stick it up your ass! Thanks for nothing!
Poor analogy. The games released here aren't gifts.

We get them in exchange for money, it's called business.

Oh, there are 48 games on page, not 50? Then it's on the 95th place (he climebd one spot).
Adding my thoughts...

So I went over to the Blizzard forums and had a nice read about the classics.

Like some people there mentioned, I too am glad Diablo 1 came to GOG and was bought instantly (sale price would have been nice, but oh well). (Including Hellfire would have been even better! or at least with the option to buy it)

I like the fact that they already confirmed War Craft: Orcs and Humans and War Craft II will be coming to GOG - will be instantly bought (Though I hope they don't go over the $10 mark and will at least have the minimum improvements that they made to the GOG Diablo version. If it goes beyond that, I hope to heck it has incredible QoL improvements to justify the increase is worth it)

Now all we need are Star Craft + Expansions, War Craft III + expansions and Diablo 2 + expansions! (am I missing any other classic games?)

All of those games provided countless hours of fun, though it was Diablo 2 that forever stole my heart when it came to action RPGs.

I really I hope they make a GOG version of Diablo 2 with LOD expansion as I mainly only play single player games these days. Though I do hope they have a Battle.net version for those that like multiplayer games. After getting hit with nostalgia from buying Diablo 1, I'd probably spent more for this game than is safe to think about now and groan about it later, though I hope they won't go over the $20 mark.

Anyone who has ever played Blizzard's classic games can't help but feel the rush of fond memories and be hyped about any of those games coming to GOG completely DRM free. Until then I guess I'll have to be satisfied with Diablo 1 and crossing my fingers I can get my Hellfire CD to work.

They still support both Starcraft diablo 2 and are remaking Warcraft 3. They just redid Starcraft. I doubt these titles would be brought to GoG.
Wow, top 100 (93rd place atm) of all-time best selling 9 days since release! Just wow!

How does one see that top 100 game list on GOG?

Diablo climbed one more spot now being 92nd.

Each page has 48 games, you just need to count the games per page if you are interested in specific game.
Diablo is a hard game to come by and for a digital version of it... I have to say well done to GOG, I look forward to spending my evenings grinding through all 16 floors!
Looking like it finally hit the rough patch in page 2, but man is it crazy how far the game climbed in such a small time period. I wish we could get some sales figures.
