Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.
Well i'll be damned. I never thought i'd see Diablo here. Great job GOG. Can't buy it today but tomorrow is Diablo day for me!

liquidsnakehpks: Does this not include the expansion ?
It's the base game, without the expansion. We have no information about Hellfire at this time.
Can't wait for Diablo 2 to be up soon! Don't forget the expansion (Throne of destruction)! It's a huge must. :D
Well this was unexpected... BOUGHT!

Ubaegmk: Without Hellfire though.
Hellfire was released by Sierra, it was some weird deal probably, so getting rights for it... well, I guess it may not be easy.
Holy fucking shit

Where did this come from? Also - "selected old Blizzard titles..." damn...
Badass! What a victory. Now to figure out how this version is compatible with the mods, I loved the content added with Diablo HD.
Well this was unexpected... BOUGHT!

Conspiracy theory: GOG could have had released Diablo 1 for a while now but they wanted to have a joker card for situations like this (financial trouble).

With Diablo on list, GoG should be saved from fiscal problems:)

firstpastthepost: I guess they are trying to squeeze as much money out of Blizzard as they can after all....

In any case, this is an amazing release and one that I never would have thought would happen.
Pretty sure it's Blizzard who is squeezing GOG, not the other way around.
Damn son, if you follow up on this you may have just redeemed yourself GOG.

Edit: Is this GOG exclusive or is it on Battle.net app too?
