Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

Swedrami: Not to mention other big dev studios or publishers more willing to enter a similar partnership in regards to their older intellectual properties and franchises. Especially the ones that couldn't be convinced to release DRM-free on GoG until now.
I hope at least spurs big-name publishers already here to bring more highly-desired titles (like EA bringing more pre-Origin Client titles, such as those on Steam [mass effect 1, crysis 2, dead space 2, etc.], missing Maxis and Bullfrog titles, Beast & Bumpkins, Powermonger, etc.) Before Diablo (of course), the past few weeks (maybe even a month or more?) felt a little dry but that's just my opinion.

I think Diablo is doing well for a game that was released recently and didn't had any discounts. I hope it will bring two things: 1) more people on GOG (though I think that it's hard), 2) more oldish games from other publishers also.

AMEN to that!!!

C&C and old GTAs, are what i am eagerly anticipating.

If and when the BEST old games arrive here, GOG will soon regain all of its former glitter and charm (good old games)! Maybe they will remember their origins, vision and true purpose, even...

Is this just Dialbo? Does anyone know if it has the Hellfire add-on?

Nope, the Hellfire expansion is not included. This version is just the base game.

No but I believe if you check the GOG Diablo forum you should see ways to add it, or some of the features it had via modding.

And it hit page 5! - https://www.gog.com/games?page=5&sort=bestselling

I'm hoping for that too, GOG Direct should also bring more people here and hopefully make them stay awhile and listen. ;p

Edit: Diablo is now on page 5 of all-time best selling games with spot #239. It's been 2 days since the launch, amazing how rapidly it's climbing.

Dchillin: So are we maaaayyyyybbee going to get Diablo 2 and Starcraft??
avatar
LootHunter: I think there is a chance for Diablo 2, but with StarCraft - it makes no sense. The game is free on Battle.net.
I was not aware of that! Many thanks!

C&C and RA is in remaster session right now so I doubt those will come here, but seeing Blizzard is on board, why not...

And yes, GTA 1 & 2 would be pure magic if they got here as well.
Now do Blade Runner if at all possible.
I picked up the game immediately on launch day. A huge thanks to everyone involved! This is as much of a possitive surprise to me, as the resurrection of System Shock. I used to be a huge Blizzard fan until, well, things changed. Their games of old however, still have that magic appeal to me. Being able to play Diablo on GOG, which has become my only source of PC games, is such a treat!

Sadly no Hellfire.
Blizzard tries hard to forget about that:

Hellfire doesn't show up anywhere on Blizzard's sites, and for good reason. It's a buggy and rushed (incomplete) mess. Nowhere near Blizzard's standard.

A team of developers is in fact working on Blade Runner, last I heard.

1 with expansions... And the 3d era ones (trilogy: liberty city, vice city, san andreas)!
