Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

Experiment513: Where does this list come from? :)

Elmofongo: From my head, and research from the PC gaming community on what are the classic PC games that should be here.
You are missing The Immortal. I don't know why EA hasn't rereleased that along with Powermonger.
OMG thx GoG & Blizzard =)

AAAAAAARHG, FRESH MEAT!!!
Wow. Cool.
Come over to the GOG Diablo stream going on right now; dungeon hype.
Abso -fucking-unbelievable!

Also insta-fucking-bay!

Thank you, guys!
What a surprize, Blizzard selling a game on GOG! :)

This alone is good enough, hoping to see more games from Blizzard here soon, like the old Starcraft and Warcraft games. But getting Blizzard on board also gives me back some hope, that Microsoft with the Age of Empires / Age of Mythology / Rise of Nation games also will arrive here some day.

tfishell: Oh I missed the goodies list at the bottom of the page. However https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/03/original-diablo-is-now-on-sale-for-10-drm-free-but-not-on-blizzards-app/ says there's supposed to be a soundtrack goodie? "GOG's version comes with a few goodies, including FLAC and MP3 versions of the original soundtrack (yes) and a high-res scan of the original manual (yes)." Misreport?
Yeah, what's up with that?
Having this particular soundtrack here would be REALLY neat.

chandra: Honestly, I'm so happy we finally get to share this awesome news with you guys :)
We too :D
So is there hope for let's say Wacraft 1 trough 3? Maybe even the remaster?

Oh and there are games like BlackThorne, Lost Vikings etc. (yeah, I know most of these games are free on blizzard website, but anyway).
I would expect this is Blizzard dipping its toes in the GOG pool. If Diablo sells as well as I think, I expect Diablo 2 to come here, or possibly already be under contract to be ported here if Diablo 1 meets certain metrics.

I was confused and upset with Blizzard when no D/D2 remaster was announced last year, but it's starting to make sense. I am incredibly happy right now and if D2 comes here, I will be ecstatic besides getting it to run already. It will be another insta buy for me.

Blizzard.... Man. Total surprise on this. I'd like to think they could still be redeemed. I guess time will tell. This is definitely a good first foot forward, though.
I... didn't see this one coming. I was under the impression that Blizzard was going to keep its entire library exclusive to its own services, even if that meant leaving some of the older ones as unsupported abandonware. I am absolutely thrilled to see these games seeing the light of day, and this is a stellar choice to lead off with.
