Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

shmerl: Congrats on signing up Blizzard to start releasing DRM-free!
Our new big friend EA is also here... check this old post : ( Dec 24, 1991)

https://www.gog.com/news/gog_com_s_catalog_gets_huge_with_addition_of_classic_ea_titles

but the claasic favorites aren't here yet, so let's hope they arrive soon, Diablo already arrived so maybe EA might follow through and who knows, maybe all the classic like RA1+2 dune, c&c and others original 2d versions might arrive here aswell ... although the original games run ok its the gamemd.exe that needs a big patch for all the games, and the initiation error need to be fixed, but i guess the nasty DRm might cause that cause i'm talking about the retail EA games i bought at release in a local store.

Anyway... who knows what 2019/2020 might bring :D

I am a happy gamer. Thank you for this, great news!

sanscript: Getting The Lost Vikings 1 & 2 here would be just as HEAVENLY!
Those two games and "Rock'n'Roll Racing" are extremely underappreciated, as well as BlackThorne.

I'd rather play all of those via emulation though simply because of quicksaves and rendering options.

No.

" Q: Is Diablo: Hellfire supported/coming to GOG.COM?
A: We have no plans to bring Diablo: Hellfire to GOG.COM at this time."

Taken from Blzzards news post on their site.

wormholewizards: This game spawned and inspires so many CRPG/ARPG (you name it), out there. For $9.99 it is a no-brainer. You own a little piece of modern gaming history with this purchase, and it's yours forever.
Nothing is forever ;)

Hellfire was by Sierra... who knows who ended up with the rights to that...

Indeed! Though I'm not that fond of the graphics for the PC version of LV2, I like more the SNES graphics, but it's no big deal, I would still love to have it here on GOG, I really miss playing those games. :)

Hawkbit12: Must buy as soon as I have money!

I agree.

Hm. I have actually not tried BlackThorne before. Think I'll retire for the night ;)

I know that. I was just curious if it does.

But then again, that game is not even canon to Diablo.
This is exacly what my GOG Library need :) Thank you!!!

Activision-Blizzard did. It's all under one roof by now.
