Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.COM have teamed up to rerelease select classic Blizzard games, beginning with Diablo®, Blizzard’s legendary 1996 action role-playing game that introduced players to the harsh—and deeply rewarding—world of Sanctuary.

The original Diablo® is available now via digital distribution for the first time ever on GOG.COM. Players looking for the authentic Diablo experience can play the game as it was in 1996, with period-appropriate 20 FPS SVGA graphics, and the ability to matchmake through the classic version of Blizzard’s Battle.net® online-gaming service.

Blizzard and GOG.COM have collaborated on an updated version of the game, which includes out-of-the-box Windows 10 compatibility, and a host of bug fixes. Players can choose either version of the game from a launcher.

I been playing D2 after like 350 hours of D1 on GOG, even though i kinda enjoy D2, the demons and soundtrack on D2 is rather lacking compared to the first game. Demons look more like weird monsters, and the horror element is also toned down. I would still buy D2 if it ever comes to GOG regardless.

Not surprising, it's a shame that Hellfire was a 3rd party expansion and as such may never make it here.

On the plus side, it does seem to work fine with the GOG copy of Diablo.

Yeah, unfortunately, Diablo 2 looks like it's going to be the high point of the series. I'd love to get a copy here.

Gog isn't just a 3rd party site. They do restoration work. So Blizzard hired GOG to make Diablo work and to provide support for it. They pay in whatever deal GOG made with them for the work (probably exclusive rights for a while and a percentage).

With Blizzard's layoffs recently, if imagine they just didn't have the staff or knowledge base to pull off the restoration.

The dream would be if this gave Blizzard incentive to release Diablo II + LoD on GOG as well.

Hehe, I was about to post that as well. It still keeps to be in the top 3 of bestselling on the homepage as well. Let's hope it will be on the first page soon! ^.^ And that only after 35 days...

A lot of players QUIT cause BattleNet is not available "out of the box" you must tinker with it to makeit work.
- also Bn is bugged /whispers dont work, and there is a font display bugs ( you cant see what you write etc)

What's the point of posting every single advance on bestselling list? It's obvious that the game will continue on rising. list. I consider each such post as unnecessary.

Actually posting about how the game performs is good plus it bumps the thread for more to see the game if for some reason people haven't seen it yet or don't get newsletters from GOG.

Now, make it climb that bestselling list faster.
