TheGrimLord: Miyazaki is trash. That's my opinion. I've watched a lot of his stuff and it feels like he is directly trying to copy Disney. And you're also putting your own opinions as a reason for criticizing games you haven't played. Tell me, are you just some old guy that doesn't like most Asian media.
I actually quite like Asian media. But only because I avoid media recommended by people like you.
If I listened to your recommendations, I would think that *********, because this is your curated selection of Asian culture that you bring to the west. And all Koreans probably listen to K-pop garbage.

Anyway, when I wrote that post I actually thought that you might reply with something like that. Majority of Asian wannabees I know would answer the same thing pretending to be edgy.

What of it? Decent indie slasher action, placeholder plot, good soundtrack, no real lewd elements other than skimpy skins. Prolly would fit right in here on GOG with the likes of Bright Memory: Infinite.

Your examples are ridiculous. Would you watch the 1985 Heavy Metal film with your family? Probably not. But it's unfair to call it porn. What about Rated R films with an occasional sex scene? Is that a porn now too? Don't you know the difference between lewd and straight XXX? I did play one of these game without the patches and it is a fun lewd game, like an R Rated movie. The family argument is virtue signaling, so you can get the fuck out with that. You tried. What about Fatal Attraction? Not a porn film. Hostel has sex and gore, but that doesn't make it porn. Frankenhooker deals with sex and gore. Still not porn. Then you look at series like Euphoria which has famous actors and actresses and sex scenes, yet everyone is talking about it. I'll bet families are watching it. Just like with those Korean shows that became very popular. There are some very rough erotic scenes in a few, yet teachers were saying that children were aware of the shows and admitted to watching them with their parents.

So what are you getting at here, exactly? "I play racing games." Well, your opinion on this genre is disqualified, since you couldn't tell a big budget JRPG from a low budget one. It's not graphics, this is a retro genre. Stick to your racing games and leave us JRPG fans alone. I like racing games too, but only stuff that is arcade style or like Twisted Metal. Other than that, I like these games, which do have their own style. I guarantee you don't have any anime themed racing games. You also mention Asian movies, but not anime. I'm an anime fan since the 80's and I love that art style. I'd fight you over that, sir. Don't push me. If you don't know what you're talking about and are merely judging the product based on looks because you do not like anime or it's style, then your words have no place in this argument. Leave us alone and play your racing games.

Also, we need to talk about your critique of Being A DIK. Obviously you haven't played it and are making the fool's decision of judging a game by it's graphics. Being A DIK is a very fun story and truly immersive. You feel like you're there and it is done very well. The creator makes approximately 14,000 dollars a month from his Patreon subscribers who support the game. People love it and I find the graphics good.

You just seem to be someone complaining because you want flashy AAA games on this site and that rarely ever happens. Just go to steam for that stuff, it isn't gonna really happen here that much anymore. If you want AAA experiences, you will just have to put up with Steam and deal with it. That's the sacrifice you make for that kind of content.

Based on the trailer it looks like glamorization of drugs, booze and casual sex. Real uplifting shit there, eh?

Sabin_Stargem: You have failed to defend your assertion that a hentai game is lesser by default. Instead, you have pivoted to assassinating the character of a standard game, just because you lack the integrity to acknowledge the point:

When you strip away themes and aesthetics, a lewd game is no different from a traditional one.
avatar
bombardier: That is a complete nonsense. By your definition a porn movie is no different than a traditional movie.
Only thing related with these two types of movies is the media. You use them in a completely different occasions.
Or maybe I am just some weirdo who doesn't like playing porn movies on family movie nights.
Just because something is used for different occasions, doesn't mean there is a lack of effort and thought in their creation. Like any vanilla movie, a hentai video has to take angles, placement, plot, characterization and so on into account before the final product is made.

Your assertion that lurid creations inherently lack quality is false. By default, all media sucks until developed into good form.

It's crap *unless* it's developed into good form, but that costs money and cuts into profits.
Maybe some people are being a little precious about this, but it does feel like GOG’s botched this whole thing pretty badly; mainly because they want the money from selling adult games, but also seem desperately embarrassed to be doing it. If they’d made an announcement telling us how excited they were to be adding adult games to their catalogue, but also they understand that it’s not for everyone, and people who don’t want to see it can opt out of it, that would have probably avoided a lot of very pointless arguments.

And now that they are selling adult games, they still can’t stand to talk about it. Exhibit 1, this release thread. How important is the porn to the game? That is, how complete is the game without it? Is it happy, consensual stuff or is there rape? Is the sex censored? It is in a lot of Japanese games, and the publisher specializes in translating Japanese games, but the game page talks about “native English” so maybe this isn’t actually a Japanese game. Are there any fetishes that people might find off-putting? This would be useful for any potential buyer to know, but GOG is too shy to talk about it; instead we get a brief note that “This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages or may not be appropriate for viewing at work.” Thanks for telling us absolutely nothing.

Incidentally, it looks like GOG isn’t announcing its adult game releases Twitter. Which is extremely goofy, and supports the image of a company that’s terribly embarrassed to be doing this.

When you know you have a bad product just add sex. That usually solves the problem. You will have much easier time to find a sucker to pay for it.

A while back, there was this Russian band Tatu. No straight man can watch their music videos without getting a hard on. Band was insanely popular world wide despite that their music was utter garbage. Sex sells inferior products.
Have you seen shows lately? There's a lot of sexual content in regular shows that people watch and movies too. I really want to know your age, because you should like an old out of touch man who had no idea what in the hell he is talking about. Yes, we have had for a while now, traditional shows with sex scenes. Have you been under a rock? And some of those shows happened to do pretty damn well, I may add. The sex did not sell the inferior product. This is a bunch of nonsense from a goddamned puritan. You aren't making any sense for the modern era. Anime itself is heavily popular and full of sex and sexual innuendo. Same with manga and it is outselling American comics. All of them - DC, Marvel - All outsold by this "inferior product." You need to get some more experience on all of these subjects before you choose to challenge me.

That's what goes on in the college experience. It's quite accurate and fun. It isn't supposed to be uplifting. Where do you people come from? It's a drama and themes of suicide, depression and such are part of it. That's what I mean by deep. Character interactions are much more than you expect as well. Very well written, but also has that American sex charm, I guess.

That's also your opinion. I mean, it is a waste of time convincing two or three people that would never play these games anyway. I also don't know how old you are, your backgrounds and a lot of other things that are necessary to understanding why you hate adult games so much. This is background information I need to understand why you would come to that conclusion. Usually I can tell right by looking at someone if they're going to be into this type of thing. Some people have sticks up their asses and get really prickly over things like this. It could be religion, social status or a myriad of other reasons.

Aside from the filters, Steam doesn't even do that. They don't tell what kind of things are in their adult games. Reviewers do point it out, but that's not the platform's job, it's the buyers job to look it up. There are reviews everywhere for this kind of stuff. Hell, I write them myself. If I tell you what kind of sex this has, you buy it and you're upset with it even after I told you blatantly what kind of sex scenes are in the thing, then you would be a damn fool. That's why I write reviews in the first place. Start reading reviews before you buy games in general. Don't be ignorant. I've saved money by not buying bad ports because I read reviews for them prior to purchasing the game.

Start doing that. It's a Google search away.

"Detective Girl Of The Steam City Review"

"... some scenes of rape..."

Well, there you go. Might want to save your money and wait for the next game GOG releases. Is it burning a hole in your pockets? Do you have to spend money here everyday? If you don't want your money, I'd definitely take it.

Nope. You just give it the old review, say "nah, not my thing" and you go on about your day. I'm sorry GOG only releases like two games a day if we're lucky and they're not what you want.

*A while back, there was this Russian band Tatu. No straight man can watch their music videos without getting a hard on. Band was insanely popular world wide despite that their music was utter garbage. Sex sells inferior products.*

"All The Things She Said" was pretty popular in my country, but I prefer the death metal version. I think Biomechanical did it. They weren't that hot though, at least to me. And I'm straight. This is another one of your problems sir, you assumed that no straight man couldn't get an erection. I mean, I never did. I was always into like Tracy Lords, Pam Anderson, Jenna Jameson, then you have the Texas Fifty, most of them are actually fifty these days though, haha.

And we can talk about the pop industry. Clearly they use sex to sell it, but it sells better than any other form of music. Hip hop is right now the most popular form of music here in the US and there is a lot of sex in the videos, the songs and all of it. But it sells more than anything else, even music one would consider higher quality. These artists go platinum and diamond now. While the music that doesn't sell with the sex doesn't do very well at all. Think about what gets awards these days - sex. So by that notion, you are calling billion dollar artists inferior even though sales would not say that in any way, shape, nor form.

JuWalk: Oh, talk about the quality of these games again. I remember once the bombardier already tried to say something about this, but somehow he very quickly ran away from uncomfortable questions. Maybe I'll get an answer this time?
avatar
bombardier: I just ignored you because you are being disingenuous, but since you insist I will reply.

Games that are trying to achieve realistic look will appear the same. There is no 100 different ways you can make realistic racing simulator.

By your definition Divinity: OS would look the same as Tyranny or Pathfinder.
Psychonauts should look like Yooka-Layle or A Hat in Time.
These are all games of the same genre, yet they look very different because they have visual identity.

Hentai VNs and RPGs provide countless possibilities to express individual visual identity, yet there is none there.
All these release look the same. Being a DIK looks like any other 3D porn comic slapped together using Poser.

I know that you will now try to claim that they don't look the same since you can find some small differences in these games, but I play racing games and I can spot the differences between them, even as you obviosly can't, so that is not a valid argument.
Lol, look who's talking about hypocrisy. The same person who tried to compare games of completely different genres, and even specific ones even within their genre, and pass it off as an argument :D I googled screenshots of these games, and yes - Pathfinder and Tyranny look similar. Yooka-Laylee and A Hat in Time are not similar, but only because they take place in very different locations.
Many slashers for those who have not played them will be indistinguishable from each other, although these games do not strive for realism. It's the same with souls-like genre. And with many RTS'. And with 4X too. This list can be continued for quite some time. It turns out that the games of these genres are also of poor quality? Because you yourself said that if a random person does not distinguish screenshots from different games, this is a sign of a lack of quality...
BTW, even those who haven't played these games can easily distinguish What a Legend from Everlasting Summer

Actually no. I am someone who thinks porn games should have their own store. That is all. It doesn't matter if they are A, AA or AAA level.

I actually already put up with a different stores. Last year around 80% of my game budget was spent here on GoG. This year I already spent 100 EUR on games, and none of it went to GoG.

bombardier: You see, this is the reason I ignored your post. You lie like a regular troll.
Saying something you don't like is lying? So who is the troll here?
Where is the lie in my words? Screenshots from these two games, posted on Google, really do not differ much. Yes, those who have played them will easily recognize where Tyranny is and where Pathfinder is. But for those who have not played, it will be pure guessing. The same is the case with many games of the genres I have named. So, either you're right and all these games, including cult ones, are low-quality garbage, or your statement about the "visual test" was pure nonsense. Which version is correct?
