KasperHviid: Thanks for taking your time to write this. I those releases really suffer from poor marketing. There's a basic overview of the story, some generic bullet points, and that's it. So it's hard to figure out what those games actually are, especially for those who are new to the genre.
You said you "like sexy RPG's not straight up H" and I sorta have the same feeling. Like, in books, I love sleeze, but fuck scenes just doesn't appeal to me.
To be fair, it really depends. There are definitely adult type games I like, but it has to be the right kind of mood and atmosphere. Generally I don't like when porn is part of the gameplay. Let me give you an example of how this is done right.
In Rance VI, you have h-scenes that you can watch to uncap the levels of your other character, or if you capture monster girls. None of these involve any semblance of gameplay. You're not in a battle scene where your character is all of a sudden changed to a sex sprite. The battles in Rance VI are taken VERY seriously and I haven't seen a sex scene yet in any of them. Alicesoft knew when to do the sex scenes and when to do the gameplay and that's not at the same time. It just becomes really silly then. Evenicle is the same way. By the way, more people should buy that, it's the closest we'll get to AAA in this industry.
There are sex scenes in the story plot, but not during the gameplay. Yeah, I may sound really picky but Kagura and most of DLSite gets this wrong. I guess I'm calling out most Japanese doujin circles right now, but the point remains - sex scenes do not need to occur in the middle of gameplay. Hell, even games like Holy Knight Ricca make that toggleable. If you lose to the monster, yes - sex happens. But you can even remove that in some games. Steam versions remove all of it for the most part, or did in the past. Unholy Disaster has a clean version and that was pretty fun.
