Last (garbage) man standing

Deponia 4: Deponia Doomsday, the new time-bending chapter in Rufus' misadventures, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows, Mac, and Linux, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 10% launch discount + Gomo added as a FREE bonus.

Remember when we said Goodbye Deponia and [spoiler alert] watched incredulously as Rufus nobly sacrificed himself to save the junkyard world? So does Rufus! Or at least he thinks so. Wait, how is he still alive? Could it all have been just a dream? Did Elysium really fall from the sky soon after? This is all a huge mess and there is only one way out: to travel through time with the help of the eccentric temporal scientist McChronicle and set things right. By doing about 3.2 million wrongs.

Rufus, the self-serving, juvenile, obnoxious-yet-lovable buffoon returns to Deponia Doomsday for another round of point'n'click pandemonium. He is joined by an extensive cast of quirky characters, dozens of new locations atop both Deponia and Elysium, plus his unique brand of unapologetic problem-solving. Want to save the planet(s)? Then you must make waste and recycle the Apocalypse!

Buy the game before April 14 to also get Gomo for FREE. Note that the game will not be added to your library right away but after the promo ends. Those who already own this whimsical puzzler are going to receive a gift code for the game and if for some reason that doesn't happen, you can always contact support for help.

Return to bring Deponia Doomsday before anyone else beats you to it, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% launch discount will last until April 14, 1:59 PM UTC

PaterAlf: Nice release, but $33 is a very steep price when you take into consideration that they gave away Steam keys for the game for $10 on release day (it was included in one of Germany's biggest computer games magazine.
Indeed. Unfortunately it has been a Steam and not a GOG key. Also Deponia 1 to 3 are (again) distributed with a German game magazine this month, so even the 80% discounted price for the series is hard to justify. The only advantage for me would be the Linux versions of the games, which are probably not included in the DVD.

Are the Linux versions on GOG native ports or something emulated?

RadonGOG: And the localised versions of ChainsOfSatinav and Memoria are still missing as well! (even the original german version is missing!)
This! Daedalic is a real sad story. They regularly give away their games on German game magazines but sell them at a high price here on GOG without even including the German versions.

JudasIscariot: Since I saw we were getting the 4th game I just started the first one myself and plan on doing a Deponia marathon :D
It's more like a sprint, isn't it? :P

Adventure games usually do not provide the dozens or even hundreds of hours of gameplay which RPG or strategy games provide. :)

IAmSinistar: Thank goodness there are no spoilers in this announcement for those who haven't finished the third game yet. ~_~
Yeah, I spoiler alert would have been handy here :/
Good, good. I'll eventually pick it up. Wishlisted for now.

As far as Satinav and Memoria go, they don't have the say, it's up to the publisher Deep Silver. They appear to have a separate agreement with them regarding the German versions. If they had as much money as people think they have, they wouldn't have had to make such an agreement.

As for the 10 Euros edition in Bild magazine: it was a unique marketing strategy as well as a Thank You to German customers who are their strongest fans. Of course it's ridiculous to expect them so sell everywhere for 10 Euros a game that was developed by so big a team and it's a bloody p&c adventure game and you damn well know how few people nowadays buy those games (let alone at full price).

People seem to have this misguided notion of Daedalic being an evil company that is out to fool and take advantage of customers while, being a primarily adventure games developer/publisher, they constantly have hard time surviving in this market. It's not as if they are hoarding big sums.

If you watch some interviews Carsten (the director) gave and apply logical reasoning (not blind belief) you'll see that those guys not only are not to blame but deserve much respect for doing what they believe in.

You may have a different opinion and that's ok but seeing as how frequent forum posting doesn't work well for me (hard on my nerves as fuck) I probably won't reply to possible replies. I am just a huge fan (not a blind one) of their work and, not being able to suppress the need to defend them, I obviously just had to go and write this damned wall of text. :D

Well, they might not be evil, but they are certainly assholes. And they are not going to see any money from me. The reason? When I inquired with them why many German versions are missing here while they are available on steam, I was told that they hate people asking that and that gog-ers are cheapskates and only buy the games during sales and that therefore we don't deserve better and are a reason why they'll someday not be able to make games anymore.

Because of trying to grab some money here after the initial steam sales?

It just seems weird to sell at a store if you dislike the customers that shop there.

Well it is about money, so that is probably way more important than liking someone or not ;-)

Ah well, at least I know not to give them money outside of sales now. xD

yes, because on all other platforms out-there, including gorilla, all their clients buy their games full-price ;)

I would actually have bought the game straight away if it were priced the same as the others...
