Surfin' the highway.

Death Road to Canada, an outrageous road trip simulator about managing a vehicle full of unpleasant people that the zombies still find tasty, is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% launch discount.

Crowded vehicles are scientifically proven to bring the worst out of humans and this one is no different; it's full of obnoxious morons who want to cross a sea of undead on a car - and you must help them! Step on it and overrun the brainless hordes, or proceed on foot and throw large pieces of furniture at them. Every now and then your horrible passengers will claw and bicker at each other about how to handle the Interactive Fiction events, so it's again your job to help resolve matters without (much) bloodshed. This post-apocalyptic highway is a regular madhouse: survivors with weird abilities, unusual weapons, rare events, a shotgun-wielding puppy - it has it all! All but a steady hand to sort out the mess and keep the growling pedestrians from jumping on board without a ticket.

Make your way through hundreds of pixelated undead as your car hits the Death Road to Canada, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 10% launch discount will last until September 13, 12:59 PM, UTC.

IAmSinistar: Pixel Vomit: The Game

Another game reluctantly released on GOG in order to drum up profit? Yah, I'd pass on that account, if I wasn't already passing because it looks like a terrible game.
It's one of those "play with a beer in one hand" sort of games. Maybe not for everyone, but it is quite entertaining to watch, and hopefully to play.

Even as fatigued by the onslaught of zombie-themed games as I am, I'll get it at some point (probably not till it's under $10, though).

So basically it's a game about your daily morning carpool to work in Toronto on the 401, before you hit the closest Tim's drive-thru.

Oh yeah, are the zombies going to apologize before delivering your character the killing blow when you're low on health?

Also, there's a Mac build on Steam. When are we going to get that, Judas?

When it's fixed. There were some issues with the Mac build we've received and we've sent it back to get fixed and as soon as that's done, we'll publish it here :)

BadDecissions: Or maybe I'll hold off for a while, until I can be sure that these "big monthly updates" will actually come to GOG...
avatar
OliD: Good point, unfortunately. Still waiting for Nuclear Throne to get an update. Which, according to the devs, is going happen over the course of... last month...

No update for GOG :/
Wow - this has about as much appeal to me as stepping in dog poop.
I'm getting some Organ Trail vibes from this, though I think it's probably not going to play how I think it is.

muntdefems: Not absolutely sure, but it seems to me they focused on releasing only on Steam until they got a more or less definitive version of the game before releasing it elsewhere.

Incidentally, they never talked about GOG in their Kickstarter page. The DRM-free version was supposed to be released through Humble, but as I'm writing this the Humble Store still sells this game as a Steam key only...
avatar
Djaron: well, don't know if it willl lift your worries or thicken them up...

but i already bought a handful of games on humble store in the past because they were advertised/labelled on HB Store as available in DRM FREE format (they have a logo for platforms)... only to find out the drm free version didnt exist/were not available yet, for the moment, and it kept being unavailable for months (but finally the drm free build appeared in my HB library some day)
And many times, it had a much lower probability of being updated than GOG. I remember re-buying many mobile titles back when because of this.

well, there is "good" pixel art and "bad" pixel art... I admit the nowadays trend flood us with 90% of bad ones...
beside the look, procedural generation ain't always lame, again if made right...

Steam hasn't got update 99 yet either, so maybe there's still hope...?
This looks strange.

But it's not their first patch . Steam version updated at least 2 times . GOG version never get any patch .

Exactly. I really like the pixel art of games like Risk of Rain, Kingdom, Hammerwatch, and Slain!. There is an amazing amount of detail and animation packed into those, similar to the original Prince of Persia.

Good pixel art is a thing of beauty, and very difficult to do well. It shouldn't be the sanctuary of people who can't draw highly detailed art, any more than abstract expressionism is merely the sanctuary of people who can't paint in realist styles.

I know. But they explicitly stated update 99 will come to GOG.
Perhaps a silly question, but is the zombie theme still going that strong these days, or is that it was going strong when development started, and they're just kind of stuck with it now that the games are out?

Well, Soldak just finished a zombie title (whenever that's coming here) and Project Zomboid's still going strong.

I think that it's still going pretty well these days though it's lost some steam, and it gets big during Fall/Halloween.
