How do you kill that which has no life?

DEADBOLT, a visceral stealth-action hybrid about bringing Death to the doorstep of those who missed the memo, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com.

Knock knock. Who's there? Not you, not anymore.

If that joke was any better, you would now be laughing in the face of Death. You really don't want to do that. But it's exactly what these arrogant undead have been doing as of late, forcing the Grim Reaper to come a-knocking to put them out of commision for good.

Naturally, Death is a pretty effective dude when it comes to, well, death-dealing. And despite their defiant name, the undead will learn to fear the reaper's formidable murder skills and firepower. But by some cruel cosmic arrangement, Death constantly lingers just one bullet away from extinction, so sneaking behind enemies is not such a bad idea either. The cool thing is, he can choose to complete any of the 25 demanding missions in any way he sees fit: storming the smelly undead hideouts in full force, taking them out with stealth assassinations, or adapting to the challenge by alternating between these two approaches. All his gruesome antics are beautifully depicted in a dynamic fashion, so no matter which of the 30+ weapons you use when extracting the "un" from the undead, the results will be drop-dead gore-geous.

Become Death incarnate and teach these unruly undead a much-needed lesson in nature's laws in DEADBOLT, DRM-free on GOG.com.
I enjoyed Risk of Rain for a while even though I don't like permadeath/roguelikes but this one looks even better since stealth seems more important.

IronArcturus: Did you try the Humble version of Gunpoint? That's the version I bought and for some reason it never saved properly. It was really annoying.
I think that's the one I have, yes. I don't recall an issue with saving, but then I didn't do a lot of it either. It was largely a straight playthrough in one sitting.

IAmSinistar: My first impression as well. And for me, being from the Risk of Rain folks is a good thing. I might have passed it by otherwise, but they are good at putting depth below their pixelly surfaces.

EDIT: Also reminiscent of Not A Hero, probably has play elements similar to that as well.

IronArcturus: Yeah, it reminded me of Gunpoint too. But I would hope it would have a better save system!
The game saves between every mission so I am not sure what you're looking for in a save system.

Breja: No, not Deadbolt. Deponia. DEPONIA! Is the GOG staff hard of hearing or something?
They are pixelated deaf .
Is...that a mouthgina for the game cover?

Though I usually prefer manual saving, like in id Software games, saving after each level is ok. With Gunpoint, there was an issue where the game would refuse to save after the completion of each level. But I don't know if this was just a bug in the Humble version.
interesting

Again, as always, I am curious about the length of the game.
Oh nice, fairly priced to boot. I'll keep an eye on the reviews for this one.

Licurg: Same guys who did Risk of Rain = bought .

tremere110: Probably talking about the bug that plagued Risk of Rain for 3+ months before it was fixed on GoG. Steam ran fine but many GoG users would have the game crash after a few minutes of playing.

It sucked. GoG offered a refund to me at least because of it - I didn't take because I could play other games but still...
avatar
Licurg: What ? When did that happen ?
Happened a while back. It didn't effect everyone though - though it affected a lot of GoG users. The bug didn't occur in any other version - not even the humble version. If it didn't affect you - you were lucky. I wasn't one of the fortunate ones.

Was the bug really that bad ?

blotunga: And here we were speculating Max Payne. LOL...
You don't know how many times I checked out the homepage today hahahaha! :P
Yessssss, this game is so good, the demo made me want the final release so bad.
Glad it finally happened! :D

Licurg: Was the bug really that bad ?
The game would crash to desktop after a few minutes of playing. It made the game unplayable and unenjoyable. About as bad as it can get as far as bugs go.

*Well, the pools of radiance ruins of myth drannor "delete hard drive" bug was worse - though I never experienced that one personally.

[EDIT] Risk of Rain was quite fun once the bug was fixed. So there's that. It's just that I understand why people wouldn't trust this company after that. I picked up Deadbolt already - GoG is really good with refunds with cases like the above fortunately, in case it happens again.

Risk of Rain is so, SO good. Not underrated but definetly to rated high enough, I hope the devs will return to it in the future.

Same composer ? Instabuy.
