D&D Stronghold: Kingdom Simulator, a D&D strategy game, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux - DRM-free on GOG.com

You've fought for kings, slayed evil creatures, and saved kingdoms. Now, it's time to build your own empire, D&D style. D&D Stronghold: Kingdom Simulator is a huge, ambitious game. It's no simple task to single handedly run a kingdom - but here, you'll be tasked with just that: from maintaining resources and infrastructure, through managing armies and leading them to battle. Should you persevere, you'll be rewarded with seeing your very own kingdom rise up to glory. In all this, you'll encounter everything that you know and expect from D&D lore and style including mighty heroes and powerful mages. Throughout all this, you'll have to decide for yourself - whether you're a good, lawful ruler, a chaotic, evil overlord, or somewhere right in between.

Interesting to see GOG (namely GOG Ltd.) as a publisher :).

It's been a while since they started doing so. They are currently publishing 10 games.
Never heared about this one, looks interesting.

Cool :). I guess it means it's less likely to disappear from their catalogue.
Great to see another Stormfront game on here. Amazing work as ever, GOG!
Never got a chance to play this, but I still have an old magazine with an advertisement for the game. Always kept it in mind when looking for classics. Definitely going to pick this one up at some point. Thanks GOG for bringing it here, since I had no chance to try it when it came out over 20 years ago.

I love this idea. Shame they didnt pick up any IP's when THQ etc went bellyup :/
I played the SHIT out of this as a kid. Absolutely loved it. Its time consuming and can be repetitive and a little boring. Sometimes I would just build walls around my cities and then let my dudes level up for hours while I did something else (saving first of course).

Loved to have a nice team of levelled up Elves, Wizards (or Mages I forget), Halflings/Thieves and Fighters/Dwarves.

Thank you gog, I will definitely pick this up!

yeah especially since they outright own the rights to the SSI AD&D Games
http://www.pcgamer.com/how-gog-rescued-13-forgotten-realms-games-from-licensing-hell/

So they aren't going anywhere unless GOG sells the rights or Hasbro/WOTC decide to put the kobosh on them since they own the D&D license.

Oh my... My childhood comes back! I'm overjoyed to see this on GOG!
I have played this game in childhood.
I remember that there is a serious bug in the game.
When the monsters and your kingdom grow up to certain number of population, the characters will suddenly disappear. It is not loss due to fighting or starving, just simply disappear. It is very frustrating when you want to accumulate certain no, of characters to fight, but it just disappear without reason.

I dropped this game because of this bug. Does GOG fix it before selling the game?

Important issue, you may want to open a ticket with GOG.com about that.

EDIT:>> ...oh, and wait for Monday for a response, they don't work week-ends - apart from Kusm & Judas, GOG.COM's Ninja Week-end Angels <3

I played the game quite a bit albeit long time ago, I don't remember any such game breaking bugs. Maybe you had an unpatched version or something (like improperly configured system). I wouldn't count on GOG to develop new patches from scratch to old games (this requires considerable expertise and access to sources, which for most games here are no doubt lost). However, I am sure GOG gets the best or the latest version with the latest official patch whenever it can.

What numbers are we talking here? I didn't encounter this during my gameplay and my kingdom was big enough for my hero to become an emperor.

I am not sure if there even was a patch for the game in the first place. We looked for one everywhere we could but if you or anyone else know if the game did get a patch, then let us know :)
