War. War sometimes changes. For the better.

Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, the ultimate version of War's apocalyptic adventure against the forces of Heaven and Hell, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 80% launch discount.

Can the Apocalypse look beautiful? Well, in Darksiders: Warmastered Edition it does! All the texture resolutions have been doubled, the shadows are now rendered in higher quality, post-processing effects have been added, and the game runs smoother than ever.

Unfortunately, War doesn't have time to stop and admire the sights: Earth is a bloody mess, with Angels and Demons still battling each other, locked in an eternal struggle for power. The first rider of the Apocalypse is wrongfully accused for letting this happen, but he's not about to sit idly and see the world burn. Armed with an impressive arsenal, his trusty steed Ruin, his incredible platforming skills, and his penchant for combat, he is determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice. And this time, his epic adventure will look better than ever!

Join War's apocalyptic fight to clear your name in the spectacular-looking Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 80% discount also applies to Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition and will last until December 2, 5:59 PM UTC.

Note: This edition is free for anyone who already owns Darksiders. Buying Warmastered Edition will also give you the original version as a free bonus.

Big thanks to THQN and GOG. But I really would have preferred the Warmaster Edition as a separate entry.

Thiev: Original installer will be available with a slight (~1h) delay. It will contain all languages bundled into one setup and you will be able to download it from extras section.
For Galaxy users, it will be possible to switch to public 'legacy' branch and download it from there.

VanishedOne: Where should I be seeing that, other than the installer download page? The settings page just has the usual rollback and manual/automatic options (which I have just had to use after aborting an unwanted 22GB download, so it's in 'update available' mode).
More-> Settings
Beta channels-> ON (default is off)
CHANNEL-> Legacy

A masterpiece of user interface...

The game already miss a changelog entry and the previous one is from the not remastered game.

That would be the obviouse choice. It would've been consistent with the remaster of DS2 and more useful to the user.

Please don't leave those two games organized in different ways.

Thanks. It turns out that if you do that Galaxy tries to download 6.5GB for no apparent reason (languages I don't speak, perhaps), so I've just left it set to manual/default instead.
Thanks so much for the update, but I have a problem. I bought Darksiders (vanilla) long time ago but I've never installed it. And with the update, that version has dissapeared from my Library and I only have the Warmastered Edition. How can I get back the original Darksiders to my Library?

PS: Sorry for my bad English. I'm not a native speaker.

JudasIscariot: You need to switch to the Legacy branch in Galaxy. Have you done so already? :)

MIK0: The issue here is that they way you treated the remaster of DS2 and the remaster of DS are different. I don't see a good reason to do so, it seems random if not neglected.
Deathinitive edition is a different entry from the original Darksiders 2.
Warmastered edition is in the same entry as the original Darksiders.
Warmastered share the same reviews you have for the original Darksiders, a really poor service for your customers. They are two different game that could have different issue.
Warmastered also share the same changelog with Darksiders, so you have inconsistency with the updates.
I tried putting it on the legacy branch, didn't test the download though as I won't be playing it right now.

Agreed that its quite a bit annoying, as they are indeed two different games entirely. Remaster vs Original. I really start to like galaxy to download everything as its really getting together quick. (compliments on that devs at gog)

I always liked the consistancy with GOG naming and managing their games library. Deponia 1 through 4.. wow if Steam would understand that logic, those titles are all over the place. With this said I see a similar approach with Shadow Warrior (2013), in which there is a normal Shadow Warrior (2013), and a DirectX 11 version.. Now that should just be under a special branch instead as they are both the exact game, although I can understand that the second version only works under windows. (but even steam doesnt do this)

But we're getting sidetracked here, all we are looking for is just a seperate entry to both titles, so we can easily download and play darksiders and the warmastered edition properly. We trust you devs <3

ThomNG: Enjoy enjoy enjoy, our friends of War! :)

And yeah - no region restrictions :) please contact your friendly GOG support if that happens ;)
Just checked my Steam account and it was added there. Awesome, and thank you. Now, all we need is to have these games appear on GOG Connect... :P
Thank you! <3 <3 <3 <3
Ok, it's done. Now can you please get back to DS2 and finish patching it properly? And while you're at it, how about adding the original DS2 version as an extra like you've done with this release? New people are getting a far better deal here than with the sequel.

Great that owners of the original get this version free. Thank you, THQ Nordic and GOG.

Looking forward to Darksiders 3, it should happen at some point. It must!
Thanks THQN and Steam for the free upgrade!

You're right. (I'm used to do such signs with Unicode, Alt+C in MS Word, so I didn't think of that way.)

;-)

Sometimes you are like a genie of the lamp, Thiev. I talk about a problem, you rise from nothing and snip with your fingers, and all it's done. :P
Well, I guess it would be polite to say thank you for the free game update.
So: Thank you!
