I real interesting mix of things listed here... But why the "Overcome platforming challenges to discover neat loot... and other stuff." part? Seems not to jive with the rest. But, hey, they gave us a demo to try and a great price. So I'll be checking this out.
Looks great, except for platforming.

Also, there's no soundtrack which is lame.

Is there a soundtrack?
Crystal Project's soundtrack is all licensed royalty free music. This kind of license doesn't usually allow for distribution in standalone soundtracks. But if you hear a track you like, I strongly encourage you to check out the artist's work! Most of their songs and more can be heard for free on youtube, bandcamp, or soundcloud. All of the artists have made so much fantastic stuff, and the work of theirs that I feature in Crystal Project is just the tip of the iceberg. The artists and track titles will pop up on the bottom left of the screen the first time any track plays, and they can also be found in the Archive under Music at any time thereafter. The credit reel is also viewable directly from the main menu and will list every track in the game even if you haven't heard it yet.

Lots of the tracks are available on youtube, so while it's not comprehensive, here is a playlist featuring many of the songs found in Crystal Project:

Platforming: It's a "voxel world" (big cubes) you can jump around. Early in the demo had one place of platforming to jump across a waterfall to a spot and then to another for a chest that was a higher-than-area-average weapon in a chest. So far, it's reasonable. But this is just... 10 minutes in the demo.

In game has an easily-accessed music player for tracked encountered, too, right from the start.

Settings: A wide swath of good options. Including difficulty (easy/normal/hard). Game lets you drop, but not elevate, difficulty setting any time. There are also a broad set of detailed toggles: https://imgur.com/a/Xlhg5p5. They all warn, "once on, can't turn off".

So far, I'm thinking I'll purchase it. I'll finish out the demo first though.

Played it for 52 minutes for now the demo.
Since they say it's kinda jrpg it kinda feels like it since equipment isn't really that cheap and you either have to fight more or sell the stuff you get.
Don't know if the limit to carrying certain items increases somehow since you can have like 10 of some healing item and then there are other items which have their own number.
In battle it would be good to have at least one healer as i don't see item use in battle but someone mentioned it can be unlocked in a class.
Some areas you go to can be too hard if you are there too soon and not with the right equipment and levels, like most rpg games.
There is platforming in this game and also you can't turn the camera around just nudge it a little i think.
In a way this feels like a game i would like to play, mostly due to some rpg maker influence of games i played much.
Don't think the enemies have proper attack animation in battle just get a little close to you or use some spell i think and use an effect when you get attacked.
Don't have an opinion on platforming much yet.
Except that some jumps require precise speed and jump to jump from one to another platform.

Holy heck, the number of hidden, find-by-platforming things on the FIRST ZONE is intense, with some marked for later I couldn't find ways to. So far, battle systems are nice. Feels very "FF5" in style.
Platforming as a main feature in an RPG? I can dig it.

FF5 is my favorite game in the series.

I currently have both the full game and the demo in my cart.

I sort of would like an "Easier Bosses" setting, as I think I'd prefer bosses to not be as much of a roadblock. but actually want to have to pay attention during random battles. But then again, my RPG tastes may be atypical.
So, with Crystal Project arriving here, we now have a choice between that game, Chained Echoes, and False Skies.

One other question: Is the game low-attrition (most resources are easy to restore, often including a full HP/MP restore after every battle) or high-attrition (you need to manage your resources until the next rest spot)?

You do not regain HP nor MP during a level up or after each battle. Only at save spots or via items thus far. I've only seen two save spots in the first ~hour, pretty far apart. Battles are relatively sparse, but each has at least some impact on resources. I have no idea how it will scale once you're "really into the game".

There's also a 3rd resource, AP, that starts low (or even 0) and fills up during a battle as you act or take damage. That's what's used to fuel the Warrior class's powers, for instance.

I think you'll like it. It feels "drop the player into the world, they can go do things". No plot so far to speak of. A map where I choose my direction once I get a bit into the second zone. Kind of a DW feel that way. Again, I don't know how it will continue of course.

They do. The first zone has two "tonic pouches" that increase your tonic carrying capacity each.

Also wanted to mention for people browsing: The game has the choice to switch between pixel font and a more resolution-appropriate font. So, horray. No dealing with pixel fonts in menus!

thanks, next time I will check the game page
Definitely some interesting ideas. I need to play the demo some more to fully understand what this is and isn't but it seems to run very smoothly and seems quite polished.
