Brick out these construction plans.

Craft The World, a sandbox strategy game where you build your own dwarf fortress, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac with GOG Galaxy support for achivements and multiplayer and a 50% launch discount.

Conquering the world can be a pretty epic and thrilling undertaking, but it usually leaves you saddled with the resources and constructions of its previous owner(s). Where's the fun in that? Play God instead, and manage your own tribe of laborious dwarves as they build a home for themselves on a randomly generated island, full of opportunities and untapped real estate potential.

Mine the surface and subsurface world for resources, build a fortress fit for a vertically challenged king, and defeat any malicious creatures that want to claim it for themselves. Grow your dwarf workforce, craft them better weapons and equipment but also provide them with food, furniture, ammunition, and decent living conditions. And if you Craft The World as impressive as your divine powers allow, be prepared to use your magic in order to discourage the hordes of monsters that will come pouring through portals to bang at your doors.

Craft The World as sturdy, stylish, and efficient as you please, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last until February 10, 1:59 PM GMT.

tinyE: Not really. This only took me ten minutes. :P
I think you forgot to put a "Rooms to let" sign... :P

tinyE: Okay before I fork over my $10, is there any kind of learning curve/tutorial or am I under constant barrage of attacks and time limits?

One thing I love about Terraria is that, before Hardmode, you can TAKE YOUR TIME!!!! :D
let me ask you... do you play hardmode solo? i felt like i had a pretty good handle on things before the hardmode bosses (which are just insane). i had a bunch of great swords and guns crafted, the best armor i could get at that point, etc. so then i summon the destroyer and he wipes me out in about a 45 seconds without me putting so much as a dent in his massive health bar.

after about a dozen tries and an equal number of failures, i googled some strategies, but most of them involved building huge sky bridges and ladders and platforms and blah dee blah so i just quit and my save file has been waiting for me since.

I can find the damn hair dresser! I made one room for every pre Hardmode character and she is nowhere to be found. I've searched every spider nest on the map.

As for the party girl, she usually never shows up for me.

And I've only gotten to Hardmode once. I quit after ten minutes because I wasn't nearly prepared enough.

Vythonaut: Well, by now I guess you must have played Terraria more hours than all of us combined. :P Maybe it's time to switch for a change.. ;)

Lol, again with the wedding dress!

Quick question: why did you stop with Starbound, or are you still playing it as well? Is it still a bit rough around the edges?
I sometimes worry that Terraria has set too a high standard for its genre...

I once made the mistake of triggering hardmode, during a goblin invasion. It's nuts. That blasted summoner summons dozens of these horrible things : http://terraria.gamepedia.com/Shadowflame_Apparation, that do like 50 damage and flies through walls :P

Painted_Doll: Looks like we really have to make a " Where the hell is this week's classic release ? " thread .
Well, trying to play on Steam's territory makes GOG more and more "just one of a kind" game-distributing site. The first alarm call was "We are now simply GOG, just GOG, not Good Old Games anymore". By 2020 I'm afraid I'll be forced to seek something better than GOG (if now-existing trend continue).

I have finished Terraria three times, two of those attempts expert mode, all of them solo. Destroyer is not that hard. Yes it requires high position, but not a huge skybridge. You can delay building that one until much later (and make it sky rail, sky bridges are sooo 1.2) :)

My favourite way to deal with it is large stack of Holy arrows + build a small house high enough that it is just beyond it's reach, one or two platforms in the floor that you can shoot through, campfire, honey pool and heart lantern. All of its attacks are stoped by walls, so you only have to deal with probes then - and most of those just end up being casualty of the holy arrows rain. But it is common theme with Terraria bosses, you can't win just by hitting it until it's dead, you have to make extensive preparations first.

Hairdresser is not in any concrete spider lair. She can spawn randomly in any spider lair you happen to visit. And yes, the chance is quite low.

Let's wait for Thursday and see.

Indeed. But if these releases are what keeps GOG afloat while they find more classics to release, I'll gladly wait. :D
It sounds from all the chatter that I need to finally try Terraria. :)

This does have nice graphics though, I think I would find the buildings in this one more pleasing than those in Terraria.
What the...? Do you want to take me to bankrupt this month or what???
Stop releasing good games!
Confused about why a dev would make a game that could run on XP but nothing prior to 10.9. Oh well. May pick it up despite...

Will the Hairdresser appear in a spidr lair that you've already been to and then revisited?

Yes, you can explore a spider lair, if she is not there, go far enough to let all current enemies vanish, return and she may appear.

Impaler26: Another Terraria clone?

Jeez, those seem to be quite popular. :D
They are about as alike as Age of Empires 2 and Rome: Total War.

This game is far more akin to Majesty a Fantasy Kingdom Sim meets Dungeon Keeper (gameplay mechanics, not story).

About the only similarity between this and Terraria is the fact it's on a 2d plane and you're capable of crafting and building stuff. You don't have the capability of fighting yourself (beyond spells, which are handled like the ones in Majesty) unless you take direct control of a single dwarf, which is inadvisable.
