About a Viking boy

Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim, an open-world action/adventure of wondrous exploration and intense combat, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com.

The Viking warriors of your island have gone missing and ever since then, stability and peace have been hard to come by for those left behind. Tyrim, a young boy whose father was also part of that ill-fated expedition, decides to take matters into his own hands and sets out to learn what happened to the lost Vikings all those years ago, as he explores the picturesque but perilous island kingdoms of Nygard.

Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim is a blend of gameplay mechanics that aim to encourage exploration, giving you the choice to tackle the challenges of the world in a non-linear fashion. Before he gets his own hero's ballad, Tyrim will have to craft items, upgrade his trusty Viking boat, solve puzzles, and fight formidable foes in gruelling duels that add some Dark Souls flavor to this Zelda-esque world.

Accompany a young Viking in his epic journey and listen to Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Has anyone played this game yet? It looks very similar to Zelda.

it's actually closer to Tetris or an even better comparison might be the 1995 puzzler, Zoop. it's title screen and post-puzzle cutscenes are done in a zelda-ish fashion, that's it.

Really? So it's just a puzzle game and not an action game?

That is not true. It's an action adventure game. You can download a demo from Steam.

So you know The Legend of Zelda games after Ocarina? Think that.

I played through the game during testing, and it felt a lot like Wind Waker to me. It was a bit rough around the edges at the time, but I really enjoyed the game. I've been playing it for a bit today and it's much more polished now. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. :)
Gorgeous game. Surely looks well polished and fun.
Don't care if it's zelda this, mario that, sonic this or that ;P

No, I was just being silly.
The horned kid reminds me of ICO.

Yeah, it did look a lot like Wind Waker. But I think I'll be waiting for more reviews first.
It might look Wind Waker-ish but it certainly doesn't feel like it.
Neither did Oceanhorn for that matter.
Looks really good, shame about the bugs. I'm kind of reminded of Sierra's Hobbit PC game from 2005. (Lots of fun.)
I downloaded it and it was a huge mistake. I hated it.

I pre-ordered the game because it looked like an awesome Wind Waker clone. Turns out it just looks like a poor-man's Wind Waker, everything else feels half-assed and rushed.

I'm not saying people should steer away from the game, it could be a good game if you know what you're getting yourselves into. I thought I was buying an action-adventure game, but as it turned out I was getting yet another boring crafting "gem".

The game looks really ugly, despite the Wind Waker-like cel-shaded graphics. Characters are really poorly animated and designed; just your regular buck-toothed youngsters in a viking setting, which I think it's starting to get over-saturated. Fighting is clunky and feels unintuitive as heck. Platforming has a *huge* input delay, and you basically need to waste time on every slightly higher platform if you want to jump in there by crafting crates. This mandatory crafting really hurts the game, in my opinion. Makes it slow and boring and after forty five minutes of playing it I uninstalled it and am now waiting on a reply from GOG's Support to know whether I'm still eligible for a refund, or not.

If you like unpolished, slow, overcomplicated games that are really crafting games disguised as action-adventures, get this game. If, on the other hand, you were hoping this would be a good alternative to Zelda on the PC, you're better off buying Oceanhorn.

[EDIT] The Editorial OP calls Cornerstone "a blend of gameplay mechanics". Sadly, that wasn't mentioned when the game went up for pre-order. And, yes, it's a blend of gameplay mechanics. A really bad blend, one that's so unpolished and feels so unfinished, that it ends up not doing any of the said mechanics well.

.
I downloaded the demo back when it became available for preorder (still available). It lets you play the whole first island and judge for yourself, before you buy. So far it feels more polished than the demo, and I didn't find anything that could be called a bug. If you expect Witcher 3 graphics you'll be disappointed. Some light crafting to move the story along. Respawning resources, you won't have to spend hours to find crafting materials, most of the time you'll already have all you need. Rather easy fights - maybe boss fights will be harder, I think first island didn't have any. Some environment + crafting puzzles (there is at least one non-obvious secret on the first island), light platforming. Nice leisure game for several rainy afternoons.
Hurm, a game about a viking kid?

Come on I can't be the only one who was reminded of this?
