Radiance1979: How??

dx11 you mean i guess

there's no way your hitting 70 fps low with all and everything enabled and maxed
No, it's DX12.

Although, as I played further (to the point where you get into the firefight in the glowing red area) the FPS was in the 80s range, again dipping to the low 70s ( I've attached a few screenshots, mind you the framerate locks to 60fps in menu). And after that when you meet Pope, the in-game cinematic runs at a steady 71fps.The catch of course is that I have DLSS enabled, which is allowing me to his those FPS ranges even though everything is maxed out. With DLSS off, the framerate drops to the 45fps range. So yes, without DLSS, hitting even 60fps with everything maxed is impossible. And while GTX 1060 6GB cards cards and up can take advantage of basic ray tracing, true RTX cards can handle complex/multiple RT effects (paraphrased from Nvidia's site), thus my lowly 2060super can give me a 25 - 35 fps boost compared to DLSS off.

The frame rates I've experienced can be broken up into these ranges:
Transitioning Cinematics (i.e. the intro): 240fps
Small Enclosed area, low action: 90fps (so far I've only seen this early in the beginning)
Rapid movement/fighting enemies: 85 - 70 fps
Detailed in-game cinematics: 70fps

Ah oke, but with DLSS enabled, already starting to feel very poor at this side ;)

This also means that control might be more benefitting from your gpu then from your cpu... let me add some own shots , just a sec

Well even with vsync disabled i'm nowhere hitting the 90's or at least nowhere where i tried and look in those couple of mins

I am running at a low memory speed but, the weird thing is the 2060super is supposed to run less on a r5 2600 when compared to a i5 10600k... shows again for what its worth ( not to mention the highly oc'd factory 2060 super i'm using :p )

anyway i guess i'd prefer the 1184 resolution scale in dlss which you can see in the last picture with vsync enabled too

don't you prefer to enable vsync? less fan noise for one

My top of the line 2070 couldn't even hold 60fps with everything maxed, so there's no way a 2060S could do it. The game's framerates vary wildly depending on where you are though, so he probably saw higher fps in some areas and assumed he saw the lows when he did not.

DLSS 2.0 looks too processed to me, but it does allow the game to run at a locked 60fps with ray tracing on my 2070, or 100ish fps at max normal settings.
Ah this game has so sterile game area :( clearly not for me.

amok: ...non of these changes the fact that the game is DRM free there as well .

JAAHAS: But not officially and that is all that matters to me personally as I already have enough DRM-free games to last me multiple lifetimes, so I may as well only increase my collection of games with releases that don't rely on someone in the forums claiming that there was no DRM in them at least the last time they checked...
wonderful! that's brilliant news! even though Control is DRM free on Epic I was really worried that:

a) you would buy it from Epic

and

b) you do not have enough games to play

I am so glad you told me this, I (and I guess the rest of the world) can now rest peacefully and no longer worry.
sorry, Remedy, I love your games... but I promised no new purchases this year, I've already spent way too much during the (1st) coronavirus wave :/

but next year, I promise Control will be among the first ones!

I'm getting dips as low as 30 fps on a GTX 1080 @1080p on medium, though it generally stays in the 50-60 fps range. I might just be slowly turning into a grumpy old man here, but it seems to me the game doesn't look THAT good to justify the performance impact, RTX aside and all.

I checked UserBenchmark and the i5 10600k should be like 19-20% faster than an R5 2600X, but mine is slightly OC'd to 4.05GHz (it could go a bit higher but I don't like idle temps of 50°C).

I tried the lowest rendering resolution, and when purposefully trying to tax the GPU with rapid movements, I saw a 10fps improvement, but the main character started looking like blurred crap.

Yes I normally always have it on since the tearing can get ridiculous. However I wanted test Control's performance without it after seeing some benchmarks.

A 2060S isn't that much weaker than a 2070 (I think across the board a 2070 will give at least an additional 10 fps in any given game). In addition to the fps counter on the recording software, I also had RivaTuner running so I'm seeing the framerate vary as it happens.

It can get a bit weird at times (especially if the rendering resolution is lowered). It's not perfect, but I'll take is over 45fps.

Digital_CHE: release Death Stranding here.
It may be pointless obviously but (for anyone wanting DS on GOG) there is an option to submit feedback here:

and of course the wishlist: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=death%20str

Yeah I didn't mean the 2070 is a lot better, just that if I can't max it I then a 2060S couldn't either.

I ended up settling on native resolution with medium normal reflections and everything else on high, I think. Got 60fps the vast majority of the time and with g-sync the dips to 55 or whatever weren't that bad. Of course I'm used to 144fps nowadays so the whole thing kinda felt like shit anyway. Ray tracing looks nice but DLSS to me looks worse than ray tracing looked better, if that makes sense.

And no I don't think the game looks good enough to justify its demand, WinterSnowfall. That's Remedy though, Quantum Break was the same way and the console versions literally dip into the teens. They're bad at optimizing.

Jim Sterling video. Yong Yea video.

505 Games claimed they couldn't upgrade people who bought the game when it came out or before the Ultimate Edition released (Less than a year after launch, even) to the Ultimate Edition. Then they accidentally did just that before patching the system to screw over customers who actually were unfortunate enough to pay for the game early. This lying sack of anti-consumer shitheads does not deserve your money, as they blatantly lied to customers who had supported them to try and milk a second sale out of each of them. Just letting you know. Yet another company I can happily ignore their shitty releases. Not that any of them except control look any good anyhow.

EDIT: The upgrade is only valid for console customers, obviously. Just thought I'd state it for PC players who feel they are missing out.

Not sure why I or anyone should care for the woes of the console audience in this particular case?
Especially when it's usually DRM-free PC gaming that gets the short end of the stick as far as formerly console-exlusive releases or ports in general are concerned.
