Somebody could take one for the team, purchase it and try to run the singleplayer portion with their machine disconnected from the interwebs.
If it doesn't work and the always online connection is indeed mandatory, just refund it.
Might have actually done it myself already if I had access to the old gaming rig right now.

What is the number of missions? If you don't want to spoil publically send me a PM. I really want to know.

I remember that the classic Comanche had a colossal of missions. I would feel sad buying that one, only to know this has only like 20 or 30 missions. Or maybe it has a custom gamemode where you can make your own ones (like ATF or those famous 90s WW1 games)?

No answer yet whether single-player can be played offline?

Okay, I bought the game. You do not need online to play the single player. The game works fine offline. Matter of fact, it didn't even ask anything about connecting to online.

The game has controller support.

So how is the game otherwise? An arcade shooter with 3rd person view, a light helicopter simulation with a cockpit view, a meaningful campaign or just shooting shit down as fast as you can etc.?

I really couldn't tell from the trailer... It seemed like a fast-paced arcade shooter, but the gamecard claims it is a simulator.

EDIT: Phuck it. Since the developer did the solid and dropped online requirement, I'm going to buy the game right now. It can't be worse than Derek Smart's Battlecruiser games, and even they weren't necessarily that bad... or were they?!? Whose to tell, not me for sure!

EDIT2: Me dummy, me can no read no good. It mentions the campaign in the game description...
