The (cater)pillars of heavy-metal warfare.

<span class="bold">Codename: Panzers Phase I</span>, and <span class="bold">Phase II</span>, the acclaimed duo of RTSs where you command heavy artillery while entangled in historical WWII battles, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 40% launch discount. Buying both will grant you a 60% completionist discount.

As kids, playing with toy cannon-cars™ was usually the pinnacle of our accurate reenactment of human warfare. Because tanks can go anywhere, blast through anything, and withstand terrible amount of punishment. The same holds true for their digital counterparts that are tasked with changing the tide of war with real-time strategic moves in iconic WWII scenarios.

Codename: Panzers: Phase I and Codename: Panzers: Phase II let you control infantry and artillery units as you alternate between three opposing factions right in the middle of Stalingrad, Berlin, El Alamein, and even Monte Cassino. Take the reins of war from renowned commanders like Hans Von Gröbel, Aleksander Efremovich Vladimirov, Dario DeAngelis, and Farvan "Vuk" Pondurovik, crush the enemy forces, and relive their greatest victories. It was the dawn of a new era, ushered by roaring, strategic canon-blasts that still echo today.

Manage and position your menacing machines of war in authentic WWII battlefields as you command the <span class="bold">Codename: Panzers Phase I</span> and <span class="bold">Phase II</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 40% launch discount and the 60% completionist discount will last until February 25, 3:59 PM GMT.

Tarm: The GOG forum code scares me. It's so unpredictable I try to stay away from actions that might aggravate it.

Your recommendation might make me dare take the plunge though...

JudasIscariot: Do tell...so you're not afraid of posting then? :P
This is a drunk weekend. It makes me do foolish things. :P

Edit: In the GOG wanted jobs section? I haven't even looked. Can do later.

astrugar710: Does anybody have a problem with Phase Two not running on Windows 7? It works fine on XP but on windows 7 I get "api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1--0-dll is missing from your computer" error when I try to launch it.

JudasIscariot: Try installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 runtime. It should have installed with the game but since it didn't either download it from Microsoft or look for a _redist folder in the Phase Two directory and there should be a redistributable there :)

Link to the redistributable in question: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
I will try that. Thank you very much for the reply!
Does nobody else's game crash on startup?

Win 7 64-bit
Do these games not work on Win7? I keep seeing these issues in the forum.
God ah the budget. But the AUD pricing is good there are no nasties of the almost +50% exchange rate costs compared to if I buy in USD on steam.

Ok I'm buying, I just hope my outstanding orders from Amazon don't get processed in the next week or two and hit the card :)
Nice one.

Now waiting for Company of Heroes to come to GOG - THE best WWII RTS out there! At least for some single player action, because multiplayer is only available on Steam.

Yeah, I've always wanted to play CoH! Is there a real chance we'll see it on GOG?

hi, if you have this problem:

api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1--0-dll is missing from your computer

and it gives an error, then the suggested solutions might work, or might not, i tried all available solutions and none worked for me, but i think in my case its a code inside the game code that tries to call something that is not there

i had the problem with this game in this topic:

https://www.gog.com/forum/order_of_the_thorne_the_kings_challenge/game_gives_error_reinstalling_the_game_x_number_of_times_wont_fix_it

read the replies and suggestions and if your problem is exactly the same then the problem might also be hard to solve.
lucky for me the developer gave me a link to a drm free working version of the game.
Anyway, the weird thing is though that all those error alsways refer to win 10, maybe its something that only win 10 has as a default installed?
Since mickeysoft is forcing everyone to get win 10, things got out of hand (google for it) and lots of users were switching back to win 7 or 8, i have been using windows since the release of 95 and imho win 10 is the worst version of all, most bugs and the privacy is also a hoax, win 10 is just forced to every user.
So i am keeping my old win7, to run all my games.
If needed i will get the retail version of win 10 but i will be used only for the downlaods of my games i bought which i will then play on my good old win7.

Well maybe someday. :P

Also, with Codename Panzer, have you tried these games on Win7 by any chance?

So from what I can tell in the posts, Visual Studio is the reason why it doesn't always work in Win7? Doesn't the installer usually include a version of VC++?

CoH?
company of heroes?
steam has all those, gamersgate aswell but only as steam keys(drm loaded and ubi might have some extra drm aswell)

So if you really really really need them ,you can turn to the 'Darkside of The Force' and join steam.
I have steam aswell, but only for fun, for some casualgames of 10 cents to 1 euro :D
I cant get myself to spend morethen that for a DRM loaded game, that also needs client installed to play it (the offline play is a hoax cause you need to be online first, and the client needs to be on every OS (usually windows) you use
So if you have 3 windows and/or 2 pc all windows need the client installed to download an play it.
