If you enjoy classic games as much as we do, we have something right up your alley – two classic titles, straight from Piko Interactive, are joining the GOG catalog!

Prophecy I - The Viking Child
This game is a cartoony side-scroller where you take the role of, as the title states, a viking child, in his quest to free his friends and family, held by the evil god Loki inside the Great Halls of Valhalla. Fight your way through 16 levels with diverse scenarios, including medieval castles and mountains. Spread throughout the levels are shops in which you can buy potions and other magical items to help you along the way. Before you finally face the Dark Lord Loki, you must also defeat the 8 Apprentices of Darkness.

Brave Battle Saga - The Legend of The Magic Warrior
This one is a SEGA Genesis game that came out only in Taiwanese markets. It has been fully translated to English, and features great battle system, party system, spells, summons, and a turn based fighting engine. Enjoy over 40 hours of gameplay in the world of a civilization once brought together by magic and technology!

Now on GOG!

Doesn't seem to be up yet.

PS: Speaking of Piko, what the heck?

PS2: Does Brave Battle Saga actually look as bad as in those shots, as in wrong aspect ratio and text that may well be unreadable?

Brave Battle Saga is giving Breath of Fire vibes.
GOG uses the word classic so much that its lost all meaning.

And, we have a new Adol... I don't know, I love to see again that linear style (platformer type) in the game Prophecy I - The Viking Child. And, what to say about Brave Battle Saga - The Legend of The Magic Warrior reminds me of the images of Seiken Densetsu 3, a masterpiece of its time. I hope both titles will be very good, really. To the wish list. Thanks to the development team behind these games, Piko Interactive LLC and Bleem! And, of course to GOG for bringing them here.
What are the growth systems of Brave Battle Saga like? That is, how do you grow stronger? (Is it via XP, or is there a different mechanic.) How do you learn special abilities?

Also, how is resource management? How easy is it to restore MP in the middle of a dungeon?
wow, that viking child looks like a funky game lol :D
Don't expect too much from Brave Battle Sage...there was a reason why it wasn't published outside Taiwanese.
And this port ist mmmh not an improvement...hence the big 7MB game file.
I've played the game some years ago on Steam (yes, sorry GOG but you are way too late again...it was released 5 years agon on Steam) and it wasn't a good game. The worst part of it was the constant (and I real mean constant) fighting. But hey you don't need to believe me...try it out it is a cheap game

Interesting, I saw your comment and went to Steam to check out the game and the reviews. And, I don't see any negative reviews anywhere. I did a little more research and the Sega game has an English translation made by some fan of the title.

Honestly, I don't care how much weight the game occupies as long as it meets my expectations.

With the rise of reverse engineering I would like to find a direct PC port of the Sega version. And, truth be told, it would be a disappointment to come across an emulated version instead.

Finally, just because a game was not released outside of a certain country or region (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Russia, etc.) does not instantly make it a bad game. Such decisions are usually made by the development team, the publisher, or even SEGA itself (in this case) for fear that the title will fail in the West, for example. Something similar happened to the Final Fantasy saga with some of its games. Similarly, titles like Seiken Densetsu 3 or even the first Tales Of Phantasia did not see the light of day in the West until years later. And, in other cases, many gems are still hidden for various reasons (economic, cultural and even legal) and they are not bad games as I repeat.

I don't know but labeling a game as bad, very bad or mediocre for not having been released beyond the country where it was published seems to me, with all due respect, a very reductionist criterion.

In any case, I do not question your words. But in my case, I have played games that many people called bad and, when I played them, I realized that such criticisms were unfounded. From that moment on, I prefer to try the game on my own.

Every head is a world :P

A hug! :)

To any who purchased: Does the game folder contain an exe with a src folder, and a res folder containing three files?

Then it is an emulated version. :(
That's too bad.
Thank you both very much for the information.

Do you have answers to the questions I asked in this thread?
