mrkgnao: There's no reason to assume the price will change for you. The 65% regional discount relative to the worldwide price is the normal regional pricing for South America and applies to thousands of GOG games.
I see, thanks for the answer

Anime-BlackWolf: Yeah, a BIT pricey for a re-release (still remastered and original version as bonus...), but the publisher invested money, to get the game from german index ahead of time. That SHOULD be awarded, as most publishers do not care about us germans in that point. So... bought.

Now PLEASE bring "Vivisector - The Beast within". PLEASE... :)
or better yet, Cryostasis

Great to see the original included. Onto the wishlist it goes
It's just my guess, but I'm starting to wonder if publisher (SNEG) is not trying the waters with this new price tag.

I regret that I won't buy it instantly (as I highly enjoyed original Chasm: The Rift - truth be told, I had more fun here than withSP campaign in original Quake), but I don't want to give a signal to publisher, that such price tag is "fine and dandy".

Hardly. It's like everyone here somehow failed to notice prices for Turok, Turok 2, PowerSlave Exhumed, Shadow Man Remastered, Forsaken Remastered, probably more that I can't remember offhand. Hint: they're all $20.

Those are not from SNEG though. And all of those have lower price than than Chasm.

Plus we had release with Blade of Darkness (improved version + original as bonus) from SNEG and it had much lower starting price.

SNEG is made up of former GOG employees, isn't it? Anyway, Chasm's price is fine for me, since we're getting two versions.

Too costly for me at the moment. I was hoping for a base price in the 9,90 - 14,90 € range, something like that.
However, as has been noted above, the situation at launch was similar for another "remasters" we had in the past, like Turok 1 and 2 for example.
This one's for the future.
Really getting tired with the idiotic meme word boomer shooter. It was bad at the start and it's bad now.
Does this release of Chasm: The Rift include the official addon pack?

From what I've read it was a small expansion with new levels and enemies:

Yes, the addon is there on both the original (DOSBoxed) game and the "remaster".

Yep, mostly ex-GoG staffers, with their HQ located in England, if I remember correctly.

And to avoid further misconceptions with the other companies involved - Action Forms is(?)/was an Ukrainian development studio, General Arcade are based in Singapore and Malaysia.

Here's hoping SNEG are already at work securing the rights for Cryostasis next.

No one is stopping you from calling them throwback shooters to be fair
"Throwback" sounds worse, not that "boomer" really bothers me. I wonder what kids in the future will call kids of today when they get older, assuming humanity survives. Anyway, I just call those games shooters. The age doesn't matter. Do people say boomer RTS or boomer arcade, too?

fronzelneekburm: After skimming over this thread, I figured it'd be $9.99. Then I checked the store page and my eyes nearly popped out of my skull...

Timboli: Well it is an INSTANT NOT BUY for me, and I love the game.

I would maybe have stretched to $14 AUD, only because it has the original version included, but $26 AUD is way outside of a fair price. Clearly the pricing is based on what they think they can get away with.

I guess I will now have to wait a couple of years ... very disappointing.

An old game is an old game, even when you revamp it. So it should start off at an appropriate price, then of course we naturally pay a bit more for the revamp work. But no way is revamp work the same as creating a game, and the price should reflect that.
the correct price point is the one where most people are willing to pay for it. if people are willing to pay this amount of money, then there is no reason for the publisher to ask for less until saturation, and it no longer sells. then it is time for bringing the price down with sales. there is nothing else that needs "reflecting" in a price point except what people are willing to pay. for you yourself, you have made the decision that the game is not worth that much for you (others have deemed it worthwhile) and as you have taken that decision just have to wait until the price is at a point you are willing to pay. this is captitalism 1-0-1

I mean boomer shooter as a term was a joke to begin with, just some people didn't clock on till much later and assumed it was sincere. People were sick of the modern style of FPS, and longed for the 'good old days' (just like boomers tend to do) and thus the joke was born, the circle grew and it became the main tag. It's pretty fitting for most, but not all. E.g. I don't think Salco counts as a boomer shooter given it players like a modern FPS with older style visuals, but something like Cultic is closer to Blood than anything, thus the tag fits
