CHAOS;HEAD NOAH on the other hand presents the story of Takumi Nishijo, a second-year high school student on the verge of becoming a shut-in. Find out the connections and immerse yourself in these grim, yet beautiful and ethereal games.

Blastprocessor42: Awesome! I hope the rest of the Science Adventure series shows up too!
Unfortunately this showing up here is probably related to steam originally rejecting it. GOG is doing something similar to steam by putting an 18+ warning on it so I doubt we will see more from this publisher.
Oh, where are my manners? I forgot to add the Chaos;Child patch. This is a much later release patch, it should cover everything. The Chaos;Head patch will be here shortly and I'll provide the link for that when available.

(https)sonome.dareno.me/projects/chaoschild-steam.html

According to the patch devs, the steam version of the patch should work with the GOG version of the game.

EDIT: Nope, it doesn't. They're working on it.

my name is anime catte: I know about Steins;Gate Elite, but what are the differences between the other two versions?
I've attached some comparison pics that show the graphic differences between JAST and Spike Chunsoft (Steam/PS4) versions. The comp shots were originally made by ffleader1.

JAST version
- SD (576p) graphics
- good translation
- good font and font size for main text box
- good UI
- no line wrapping (words at the end of a line aren't broken, instead start on a new line)
- DRM-free
- usure if it has modern OS compatability

Spike Chunsoft version
- HD (1080p) graphics
- some translation issues, missing words, inconsistencies
- font and font size for main text box is not as nice as JAST version
- in-game phone UI font is too big and badly spaced and makes it hard to read
- line wrapping (words at the end of a line are broken)
- DRM (but if it were released here, this would be a non-issue)
- for its time, modern OS compatability

So... out of the box, JAST version wins in my book, even though it has SD graphics. Literally the only thing the Spike Chunsoft version would have going for it would be the HD graphics, and modern OS compatability.

But... with the Committee of Zero patch (which fixes all the SC version issues), then I think the Spike Chunsoft version would win. However, the patch is unofficial, so not as good out of the box for customers who wouldn't know or care about the patch.

Note: my info might be out of date because I never bought the Spike Chunsoft version, so I'm not sure if they ever addressed the translation or line wrapping issues. I'm pretty sure they didn't fix it because I haven't found any information about it, and the CoZ patch is still a thing (I mean, why would it still exist if the problems were fixed)

Yeah and they just updated the patch last week after a very long time. It added some special DLC only outfits for the characters.

SmashManiac: Spike Chunsoft on GOG? Amazing! Looking forward for future releases, as I'd be willing to buy Zero TIme Dilemma again here just to get the Premium Booklet that's no longer for sale!

I'm wishlisting Chaos;Head for now until I finally get around to play my copy of Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0 on my Vita to see if that's my jam. I guess it's time to put it on top of my backlog! ^_^

ryuken3k: Was the premium booklet DLC supposed to be only available to purchase for a limited time on Steam?
Yep, unfortunately. It was a pre-order bonus only. Apparently it contains a prequel story and exclusive puzzles, so not making it available anymore is a real shame.

CHAOS;HEAD NOAH Is available on Steam and got released a little earlier compared to GOG.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1961950/CHAOSHEAD_NOAH/

Originally the game got rejected from Steam however due to Fan’s outrage regarding the decision, it was somehow reversed and the game also got released in GOG which is most welcome and very nice!

Here’s the article regarding about it.

So it’s safe to assume that more games from Spike Chunsoft would be coming in GOG in the foreseeable future, hope they’ll also bring Stein’s Gate and its sequel here.

I Already knew it was on steam if you read what I said. This showing up here was undoubtedly determined before Valve revised it's decision, and unless they see a lot of sales here there I doubt we'll see them again.

Thanks for the summary. I'm a little confused by the above points though, as "modern OS compatibility" implies it's a PC game, while I'm not aware of PCs ever having used 576p as a display standard (576p seems to imply a console running in progressive scan PAL).

Still, it's good to know all the stuff about the translation differences.

The actual art is at 576p, but scaled up for whatever resolution your display is running at.

Putting a 18+ warning on a game and the act of rejecting it is not similar or the same thing

Right, but what system was the art designed for? It would be quite a coincidence for them to have just randomly picked 576 as the vertical art resolution. If you were designing it for the PC you'd be more likely to go for 600p (i.e. 800x600). If the art was drawn for 576p, that implies the game was originally designed for a PAL console, which is really weird.

It was originally released for the Xbox in 2009, with a PC port following the next year.

At any rate, I have a physical copy of the JAST release ('Best Edition') of Steins;Gate and I can confirm that it runs on Windows 10 without issue.
Some of you may be interested:
Spike Chunsoft is holding a survey. GOG is one of the options brought up, and there's room for feedback and suggestions.

It's a good opportunity to let them know what you think, and to ask for more releases on GOG!

I also made a thread about it here
Just a heads-up that a fan patch that restores censored content and fixes some bugs is now available:

Thanks for the heads up.. isn't it always sad to realize they've once again censored things without telling you and without offering an uncensor patch on the store... yup, no disclaimer about censorship on store page.

"one route in particular had a whopping 500-line scene erased entirely! This scene is vital to the game’s central mystery, making the exclusion all the more damaging to the experience"

Anyway, the worst thing is having to keep track of all those patches scattered around fan sites and other third parties. I wonder how many other titles I've read oblivious to censorship and missing content?

From here on I'm at least going to try tag such games in my library.. I just added a "NEEDS_CONTENT_RESTORE_PATCH" tag. Whether I'll find that patch after however many years it actually takes me to get to that point in my backlog is another concern.
