Going further north.

Three DLCs for Celestian Tales: Old North, the morally challenging turn-based JRPG, are available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 40-66% launch discount.

If you haven't yet, it's also a good opportunity to pick up the base game Celestian Tales: Old North at 66% off!

Howl of the Ravager takes place 20 years before the events of the main game and follows the exploits of Severin Leroux, a young adventurer on his path to greatness. Event-skipping, faster movement speed, and other assorted improvements elevate this personal tale to one of the most fun experiences you can have while travelling the Old North.

Part of the Celestian Tales' charm is the opportunity to experience the story from six different perspectives, depending on the character you choose. The Alternate Costume Pack lets you customize these characters even further, so that you can pick the look that better matches their attitude. But Celestian Tales is not just about appearances, the evocative music is also a huge part of the experience and now you can find all 17 tracks, remastered and in both FLAC and mp3 format, inside the Celestian Tales: Old North pack.

Return to the Celestian Tales: Old North with a new adventure and a new look, while the remastered tunes are keeping you company, DRM-free on GOG.com.

The OST in mp3 format is still missing, I bought the OST DLC and I only received the OST in FLAC.

Please add the OST in mp3, too. Some people have old players for their digital music... :)

Thanks a lot!

Couldn't you just convert the files yourself? This way, you can choose the format you want the music in and can make your own decision regarding quality versus size.

Same here. Who knows if part 2+3 will ever be made. :D

Instead of milking costumers with DLC the developers should work on the sequels.

viranimus: Well personally I own the base game, but taking this DLC approach despite already supposedly being part 1 of a trilogy means I am relegating future purchases of this to not until Part 3 plus all its DLC is released.

With the sheer number of games worth playing and their reasonable costs there is no logical reason to replay a game anymore. I get nostalgia and all but backlogs are far too deep to replay games just to get the DLC experiences. Especially one that is such a mediocre offering.

This needs to stop. We need to stop buying incomplete products because all we are doing is encouraging the sale of incomplete products.
While I agree that they should focus on part 2 and not DLCs, I think there is a place for "in progress" and "multi-part" games.

Some game devs have more modest means and need to monetize their efforts before 4-5 years (sometimes more) have elapsed.

While you may not have enjoyed the game from the appearance of things and I respect that opinion, I'll personally be glad to support them again once they release part 2.

Yeah, maybe I could, but I have paid already and GOG promised mp3s, too.

If they can not bring the mp3 OST here, I will search for a converter programm. But I can wait a few days. No problem. ^^
tthat game deserved some extracontent until the next part. sure is gonna be a next part.

Problem solved! ;)
Well, they haven't abandoned it, but it's not the second part yet.

I've been holding off on this until the game is actually finished because I've bought trilogies before with only one part released and been disappointed when they never wrapped things up.

Still interested, Ekuator/Digital Tribe, just waiting for you to finish before I buy.

Maybe that's all some developers can afford.

The DLC was a stretch goal.

Fair warning about SourceForge.

Indeed. I always thought of that way of thinking being weird.

1) It is not like they are forcing us to buy DLC.

2) If they don't earn money, how they think the next parts of the game are going to be made? Kickstarter again?

3) Complaining about lack of parts 2 and 3 but refusing to support the developer?

I don't think whatever amount they earned by selling the first part is going to be enough to fund part 2, let alone part 3. Specially if a lot of costumers wait until it is discounted to buy it.

If I may, i'd like to note a few things (in general, not specifically for this game). I think that both approaches are right and trying to merge them just leads to logical circles.

On one hand it's absolutely logical to support the developers in order to create the next parts of a series. On the other hand the same applies for people who refuse to buy a game, which maybe will never be complete or it will be complete, but the requirements won't be the same, so that the original system won't be enough.

I think it's a matter of personal thinking and I respect both sides.
Ravager dlc will do, gives me a excuse to play the game again.
Nope to the other crud.
The game's better than the reviews make you think. Most reviews just rate it low because it's only 33% of the full game.

I'm gonna get the extra game content, but I'll probably skip out on the extra costumes and soundtrack. Don't really understand why people would get angry about costume DLC, though...
Looks neat, I might give it a try,
but one thing bugs me, how come this game got released on gog, while games like 'Loren The Amazon Princess' were rejected multiple times?

blackbishop86: 3) Complaining about lack of parts 2 and 3 but refusing to support the developer?
I don't want to take the risk of buying the first part of a game series that might never get finished. That has already happened with a few games in the past. So i usually won't spend money for such games until all the episodes are released.

After watching some videos and reading reviews i got the impression that Celestian Tales is just a mediocre game anyway so that's another good reason to wait and see how the other 2 parts turn out (if they ever get made).

And i'm not obliged to "fund" those next parts by buying the first one. That's what Kickstarter is for. ;)
