Caesar™ IV, a pinnacle of city-building strategies set in ancient times, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Rome wasn't built in a day, you know, and neither were the Roman aqueducts which are still subjects of study and praise by many a scholar. The same is true for the majestic structures they left behind, which still stand proud all across Europe. Want to know how they managed to erect these marvels of the ancient world? Assume control of the economy, planning, building, and managment of Roman settlements in challenging scenarios set during the Kingdom, Republic, and Empire eras, and watch your humble village grow to become a sprawling ancient metropolis. Even back then, people were very concerned with public services, hygiene, spectacles, and overall quality of life, so it's up to you to balance the complex needs of your citizens with the realities of city management, if you want to be remembered more as a Marcus Aurelius and less as a Nero.

Plan, build, and sustain a Roman metropolis that could stand the test of time in Caesar™ IV, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Salve, I never played Caesar 4, my nostalgia extends only to Caesar 2 and Caesar 3. They have superb 2D sprites. So, please GOG, plebs are needed, plebs are needed, PLEBS ARE NEEDED, PLEBS ARE NEEDED!!!

By the way, somebody should share this release on Reddit.
"included goodies" Manual. Alrighty then. Well it almost looks good I just wish I wasn't such a simple man. =D

gibbeynator: According to database crawlers, yes, but they're not bringing the good stuff.

tfishell: What good stuff are we not getting?
According to database crawlers, all that's left are Gun and Singularity, so no SWAT 4, no Willy Beamish or Freddy Pharkus, no missing Sierra games, just a couple of extremely average FPSes.
Finally! Well done!

Now...Imperium Romanum and Glory of the Roman Empire

The-Business: Was is this part of series for which the publisher gave Caesar 1 away for free to promote it?
This thread mentions that it was given away until 2002 and Activision holds the rights holder after acquiring Sierra. Maybe there is hope for the earlier releases in the series (never managed to control these barbarians in part 1).

Since the gameplay is not so much different from Caesar 1 - 3 I would count this as a classic release.

Nice job GOG.

Splatsch: Ooooh. Looks great.
How does this one compare with Caesar 3 ?
I would like to know that too. :)

Anybody who has played Caesar 3 and 4 would like to compare them?
\
I was going to start a chorus of "We Want Emperor:Rise of the Middle Kingdom on GOG" but I see that has already been done......

Agree that Laura Bow would be a nice addition, also.
And some of the SIerra casual games would be nice like "3D Mini Gollf" and "Lionel Train Town Deluxe".

Caesar IV is not all that great a game; Caesar 3 is better, but nice to see some action on the Sierra front.

Hum... this, and in 3D. This reminds me the Rollercoaster Tycoon syndrome with RCT3.
Thanks for this opinion :) I'll buy it one day, but most certainly wait for a sale.

Crosmando: What about Caesar 1-2?
Indeed. I'm happy about that release for anyone that enjoyed Cv4 (which is for my taste nothing more then a watered down and superfluos sequel...but everyone is entitled to have his or her own opinion of course), but for me it offers nothing. Caesar 2 would have made my day, as I have never got that game working flawlessly for me so far (always the trouble with crashing battles)

Thanks! Then I'll stick with Caesar 3 for now and maybe get Caesar 4 later at a good discount.

Fairfox: Hah, a manual explaining what the heck to do really is the very least they could do, although there's a bunch o' gamies with literally nothing, sooo... guess not!
And I waited few days to look at that reply (to gather my courage). I was too scared.. I thought it was bad.. it wasn't. ^^
Wonderful to see such a gem on GOG. I'm so happy about this release. I've been waiting for a good release for many weeks, and here it is. I hope to see more games like this, which I know it will, because GOG never disappoints me.
