Caesar & Caesar II, two solid building blocks of the city-building genre, are now available, DRM-free on GOG.com!

From the ancient, almost-top-down visuals of the original to the far more detailed isometric cities of Caesar II, these are the games that successfully introduced a strong historical context into the city-building strategy games. Aspiring to become Caesar is the ultimate motivation but bettering the lives of your little Romans by setting up sensible infrastructure, proper entertainment, or impressive monuments, never stops being fun.
Good old games. But don't know how well they aged. Caesar III and IV are probably better alternatives.
Hey, can somebody share/host the actual "PLEBS ARE NEEDED" audio files? I've never heard them before so I'm curious.

deja65: I'll just detonate my NOLF nuke in this thread, and run away from the "it is impossible to happen" tsunami that comes right after ;).Cheers

Narakir: Shhhhh ! A quick google search for NOLF revival and its like if you had a GOG version, but free.
The guys behind that site are just using the copyright limbo the game is in, as none of the companies has complete-enough rights on the game to file a DMCA. If that issue ever gets resolved, that site will have to be taken down.
Pretty cool how Sierra classics are rising on the wishlist as the most recently active: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games - Laura Bow, Conquests, Iceman, Willy Beamish, Manhunter, EcoQuest, Dr. Brain, Shivers, Gold Rush, Jones Fast Lane, etc. Granted it makes sense given the new Activision releases, but I thought it was cool.

Awesome to have the incessant whining for more plebs available on GoG now!

I can't help with the file, but somebody linked to this in another thread. (It requires Flash, though.)
Note that in the game, it's not on a constant loop like that. But it can get annoying all the same if you don't/can't fix the problem fairly quickly and have to hear it repeated a few times.

Unfortunately, both of those (I think; the third one for sure, at least) force you to keep the gods happy on top of everything else. What little I played of Caesar III, I found that annoying and distasteful. It's a city-builder -- I should be the only god in the game, dammit! :P

Hail Caesar!

Which Caesar game is the best?
I will be buying this, but right now gonna buy EMPEROR: RISE OF THE MIDDLE KINGDOM and TUROK.
I think I'm gonna spend my Nintendo Switch Money on GOG classics and Beer/Food instead, wich is awesome news to my GF.

Anyway,
Kudos from México.

Reload and click on the "Play" symbol. I had that too when I first tried it :)

ZaineH: Hail Caesar!

Which Caesar game is the best?
Probably depends on who you ask. But I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that, unless you're drenched in nostalgia, the answer is NOT the original Caesar. =P
Caesar? I hardly know 'er!

Gold Rush was remade a couple of years ago in a HD version with the original included as a bonus. Available on Steam. Why not available on GOG you will have to ask GOG.

You can turn off the God Effects in Caesar 3,though you still have to build temples to keep your population happy.

Good to know. Thanks.
