MarkoH01: It's not always about the looks. This is a piece of history recreated and that makes it great. Don't you wonder why they have preserved this game all the time? Just google for it and/or watch some youtube videos. People really like it. If you are interested in the Titanic it's a must buy. I was interested in the Titanic before they found it. It was a big mystery how an unsinkable ship did not just sink but also vanish. I bought Robert D. Ballard's book in which he told how they found the wreck and of course I also watched Cameron's movie which I really liked - not because of the excangeable romance story but because of the fact that Cameron tried to stay as true as possible to the ionformation known until then. This game gives the opportunity to feel a bit like being on the Titanic and several of the pictures and details in game are true to the original. Like I said, if you are interested in the Titanic it's a must have even though the game is old and some of the movies don't look that good.
I know a good number of people love this game, but that isn't enough for me
at the current price.
I too have seen the movie and several documentaries, so yes the game does interest me.
However, some of the reviews (outside of GOG mostly) have led me to believe I need to make sure that I will at least be satisfied with the visual recreations of the original ship. To wander about (even by point & click) has potential to give me joy, even if I ultimately don't think much of the game play itself. But certainly some of the screenshots I have seen are off-putting, and I have no nostalgia goggles for this 1996 game, to put on.
Once bitten twice shy.
So in the end, with lack of data, it is about price.
I'm not adverse to buying it, just adverse to buying it at its current price, without seeing more.
And I am not prepared to go to too much trouble (chase down videos etc) over a game that has not grabbed me enough.
Even writing this, is a step further than I usually go.
If a publisher can't provide enough decent detail, they miss out from me usually.
