Vengeance in a nutShell.

Bombshell, a top-down, explosive action-RPG about extracting some sweet intergalactic revenge, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy achievements and a 10% launch discount.

The "Washington Incident" has certainly left a bad taste in Colonel Shelly Harrison's smart mouth. Quite understandably so, since it was there that she lost her right arm and the rest of her bomb squad. Now working as a mercenary and sporting a handy mechanical arm made from mostly unknown materials, Bombshell is eager to start kicking serious alien butt across four different planets.

Slip into the shell of foul-mouthed Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison and blast away the legions of ugly aliens that seek to destroy our humble planet. The past-paced, frantic gunplay and the imposing bosses in 3D Realms' latest offering will leave you no time for chewing bubblegum but what you will have in abundance are opportunities for crude comebacks. Use them wisely, wise-guy.

Punch and blast some manners into the alien terrorists as foul-tempered Bombshell, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. If you want to do it with even more gusto, be sure to grab the soundtrack and artbook included in the Bombshell Deluxe Edition. But if you are not ready to commit yet, you can always get the Bombshell Deluxe Edition Upgrade later. The 10% launch discount will last until February 08, 5:59 PM GMT.

catpower1980: It looks interesting as a top-down shooter but the in-game screenshots ar maybe too "heavy" in terms of visuals: I have to zoom in just to see where the heroin is :(
avatar
Luned: What about the cocaine?

(Bad pun. For non-native speakers, heroin is a drug, heroine is the feminine form of hero
Ah thanks, I didn't undestand InfraSuperman comment on this at first :o)

(in French, "heroïne" is "heroine" but I thought the correct English form was to correct the "i" and leave the "e", I've learned something today ^o^)

Grargar: Top-down shooter.
I'm confused too ... is this an isometric arpg a la Path of Exile or diable3 style?
Man I like the look of this but those reviews and the script work that feels needed after watching the video just have me holding off for now.

budejovice: *didn't.

I certainly have no qualms with others buying, but I will probably have to wait for a sale or more reviews. :)
Quoting from Steam forums :
I thought GOG didn't do regional pricing, but it does show up at $14.49 for me (I'm in Central America).
Annoying... I wanted to buy this out of principle to show that GOG users are happy to pay for new games... but then I checked metacritic - oh dear :(
I think I'll have to save this money for The Witness or something that has a bit more favourable reviews...
Yeah, this looks like my kind of thing... But that price is out of my range, so I'll have to wait for a steep sale.

dexterward: Metacritic: 28 official score, 2.0 user score

Buyer beware.

Matruchus: Yes, I would definitely stay away looking at disastrous gamewatcher review. 4.5/10 that is really bad.

Or gamespot review giving it a 2.0/10.
Reviewers, especially "professional" ones, are usually shit. Many of my favorite games got horrible scores from gamespot and other such sites.

Hardly just the professional reviewers. Steam rating is also starting to go downhill. Better to wait for a few days when the actual value of the game shows through the reviews.

Not that I care about the opinion of the average steamer, but there are more positive reviews than negative ones. Also, both the negative ones say "Pre-Release Review" .
This looked like absolute tripe when I watched the beta footage, has it improved any? I'm wary of trusting this dev after the shitfest that was Rise of the Triad.

Naturally, the trailers do an awful job of showing you any decent, consecutive gameplay footage.

Actually only one of those reviews is not a pre-release review. Every other review there is a pre-release review looking at the number of played hours. Its not tagged as such. This is a common issue on steam that beta keys are not recognized for pre-release review but as release reviews. As said don't jump to conclusions too soon. There are too few reviews there to make a clear picture. Eitherway the discount for the game is still valid till Monday so waiting a bit doesn't hurt.
I'll wait. Looks cool though. My guess for the bad reviews probably has something to do with the subject matter/protagonist.

I dunno, I'll wait.
Didn't like Rise of the Triad '13, so when I saw this my expectations were low.

Just watched LGR's review. Seems generic. Not worth $30. What a shame, I guess?

Maybe the Build engine prequel will be better.

Based on metacritic, critics bashed this game. I wait to see IGN score too. Poor Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison :( But I prefer to read reviews by GOG members who play Bombshell.
Rise of the Triad 2013 was luckier...

Watched it, ouch.

Yeah, some of Rise of the Triad 2013's design (namely the boss fights) wasn't that great. I think Shadow Warrior 2013 did a much better job at remaking an old game.
